New 130 arrived!!!!!
Woot Woot!!!!!
Hi Guys, I just picked up my 130i last week: -6 speed manual -business nav- new one and i have the 2010 CD!!!!! (share?*cough* ahem) -alpine white -grey interior -xennons I just have a few questions..... 1) Should i listen to the manual about only giving the car hell after 2000kms? I was told to drive my last mazda 3 MPS at full speed from day one.... 2) I'm thinking of changing the daytime corona lights from the stock yellowish ones to white led style ones... any disadvantages? error codes? overheating etc?? Is it legal to do this? 3) Is my gearbox supposed to be slightly notchy? I've had it stuck a few times in traffic going from second to third and i'm not sure if i should be changing gears very slowly while running in. 4) Should i be feeling this orgasmic after just a few days? Hey mate congrats on the car. Alot of people will tell you to drive it like you would normally would. When I first got my car I waited till around the 1500km mark before I ran it right through the rev range. Yes the gearbox is notchy and esp from 1st to 2nd, it will loosen up slowly and once it does you should get the bmw short shift kit and YES you should be feeling ORGASMIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

congrats... got the 130i for the wifey n she loves it.
1. It is only what the manufacturer says... but hey, if u think opinions off the net are better then it is a good question! Be patient, the 2k kms will go by in a flash. 2. Did it using the PIAAs. No probs. Looks 100% better. 3. Notchy... yes. 4. Absolutely. Enjoy.

I think the run in is relative to how long you are thinking of keeping the car.
If you plan to hold on for a while i.e. greater than the warranty then why not take it easy for the first few 000km. If you are going to turn it over during the warranty period then all is covered so give it stink. Gear box is a little clunky, that could also have to do with the Clutch Delay Valve some people modify to speed the clutch disengagement up. Still love mine after > 3 years so I understand your enjoyment. Good Luck with your time together PS: Do you still have you M Coupe? I missed out on a bargain for one of those this year and I am still kicking myself |

Congrats! One of the first things I did with my 130i and 135i was the famous "golf tee mod" - made the car sound a lot growlier!

I just got my '06 130i on Monday and I can't wipe the smile off my face! Only imagine the feeling should be 100 times over on a brand new baby!!!
I had it detailed and paint protected and it looks amazing now, I actually go check the garage every once in a while to make sure she's still there! |

welcome, fellow 130i driver.
after 8 months, I've started to lose the smile off my face.. but i'm getting my quaife LSD installed next week - the guy said i'd have to learn to drive the car again (its that different)... so hopefully more smiles again..

Hey how much are you paying installed for the Quaife? I have been quoted just under $3K installed down here in Melbourne. |

Yes, I'd be interested how much also and would be keen to know who (in Brisbane?) is fitting it. Is a 130 diff the same as a 135 diff? Is the Quaife unit for a 130 the same as you'd fit to a 135?
