Please Help! Questions about BBS RG-R wheel fitment.
Hey,
I was wondering if the 18x8.5 would fit on the 135i without needing to do any type of suspension mods. I don't see why not, but when it comes to wheels/tires I really don't know what I'm doing. I am also planning on running the goodyear eagle f1 assymetrics I currently have on them. 225 in the front and 255 in the back. Would this setup work? Any rubbing? |

The best offset in the 8.5" is 38. Problematic to the outside, especially on the front with wider tires.

Would a fender roll solve this or would it require further modification? I am currently running the 225's on the stock rims that are 7.5" without rubbing. I really want to avoid any rubbing if possible.

The 7.5" is 49 offset. So, you have a wheel that sticks out 11mm (apprx. 1/2") further and is 1" wider. Figure half that on both sides and the RGR would sit 1" further to the outside than what you have now.
Not sure a fender roll will fix that. That's a lot.

If you want a "forged wheel" there are plenty of options, but they are expensive. HRE/360 Forged/Iforged, etc, etc.... |

I can comment the front that you can put in 8.5 ET40 without rubbing if you are on stock suspension or sports springs, running this setup currently.

yeah not to mention if you add a little camber you can tuck the wheel in further. Alignment pin removal. I have an et38 coming 8.5" and I believe you can run 235's without rubbing.

Is the ET38 or ET40 the optimal offset? I've been trying to find an answer to the question, but may have missed the answer somewhere on the forum.

Well I am thinking I might try this anyway. If there is rubbing I will just add some neg camber. Will probably end up costing more than I had planned, but it should improve handling by quite a bit. I think I would be losing 20 lbs of unsprung weight from the lighter wheels alone and adding neg camber will only make the car handle better.

I have 8.5" ET43 on the front and no rubbing on arch or the strut.
I believe 8.5" ET38 will need some negative camber (camber plates) and some arch rolling if you plan to lower it. Here's a pic of a Advan RS 8.5" ET38 on the front of a 135i showing camber required to make them fit
