Subwoofer Upgrade Options

I have Premium Sound. I am just looking to add some extra bass to the sound system. I only want to spend around $300-$400. What are my options? Are there any powered subs I should consider or should I stick with a mono or 2-channel small amp (bridged) to power a 8" sub?

I value my trunk space so the smaller the components the better.

What brand and models would meet my budget? Thanks.

Im my trunk I added a 8" square kicker solobaric. Has the surface area of a 10" round, but the box size is much smaller. I have my RF360x2 amp bolted on the back of the box. It takes up about 1.5x2ft.

It added the deeper bass I wanted, but I think I would go with a 10 square or 2 8's next time.

Heh, Not really worth taking a picture of. I can tomorrow though. It was supposed to be temporary but never ended up making it look nice. I custom build the box to go in the armrest of my Explorer SportTrac like 6 years ago, I then had an FX and put it in the trunk and planned to mount it some how, but never did, it was just bungeed in.

No its in the BMW and its pretty bad looking! the box itself is fine, but its sits in a raw wood frame and is also bungeed in for extra saftey, I throw my car around a lot...

I'd like to see a pic too. Just to see the size of the box in the trunk...
