damn it, got into an accident!
Hey guys,
haven't been a very active part of this board of late, but thought i should post this. After going to a pet store near the Essendon DFO, i was going straight down Bulla Rd (or the continuation of bulla rd just before you enter DFO) while a blue mazda 3 coming the other way suddenly turned right infront of me, and i ended up colliding with the left rear wheel/tyre of the Mazda 3 (refer to my hand made picture!). There doesnt seem to be any structural damage to my car (touch wood!) but the front bumper has some cracks running through it and part of the bonnet just above the Right kidney grill is a bit dented in. THe mazda 3's wheel was totally bent in, with the surrounding panels a bit dented. So luckily no one was injured!, the Mazda had 3 people in total with no one sitting on that corner luckily, but the driver was a bit shaken up. Guess you just cant prevent some accidents (well i guess its the definition of an accident really) I was surprised that the bumper held up the way it did! Anyway, i've organised to go to charlie batistti to get it fixed, what do you guys think of the performance bumper??? |

I'll admit im annoyed about it, but can't do much about it so im not angry about it or anything.
but ye, from what i could tell everything under the bonnet seems to be in place, but when i close the bonnet there is a weird vibration noise, which im hoping is just the bumper being a bit loose. |

Sorry to hear the news. Will be fixed as good as new in no time I'm sure. FYI the bumper pops back to it's original shape even though it may have been considerably deformed in the accident. So there may unfortunately be a bit of internal damage.
After my encounter with a wallaby last year, you'd hardly notice much damage on my car except for the smashed lower grill, but I needed a new bumper and new intercooler....

thanks for the info d3syd, i've been trying to figure out how the bonnet got dented a little without more of the bumper getting smashed up, but i guess the whole bumper popping back into place may well explain it.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I like your current bumper better than the performance one so I wouldn't change it. If you do fit the performance bar you might want to tell the insurance company so it covered by their insurance. When I reversed into a pole the bumper looked undamaged except for a small vertical crease but the metal bar behind the bumper was bent completely out of shape. The panel beater didn't notice it and only ordered a new bumper. I took the rear of the car apart at home and took photos when I sent to the panel beater and he ordered the parts and amended the insurance claim.

tough luck with the car mate. I'm surprised to see there wasn't worst damage (apart from all the black wheel marks etc). I thought the bumper would have been smashed off from the descriptions.
I'm sure once the repair shop get it, it will be back to good |

Just got back from Charlie Battisti, said the bumper and bonnet will be replaced and from what he could see there probably wasn't any structural damage, but i guess i'll have to wait till they properly take off the bumper. But to my surprise there is a 6 week waiting time! and given it'll take them 2 weeks to fix it, im hoping i gets fixed before new years! |
