Unhappy Damaged wheels from TireRack

Got my beautiful new winter wheel set from TireRack today (ASA GT1 and Blizzak WS-60). Took the packing off to discover that every one of the wheels is damaged.

In addition to the big scrapes pictured, the lip of each wheel is roughed up almost all the way around. My guess is somebody really screwed up mounting the tires. I really doubt it was a shipping issue, the packing was in great condition.

Gill is great to work with, but this combined with another poster being sent a wheel with a stack of dozen balancing weights makes me wonder who the heck they're using in their warehouses. I spoke with a rep who promised me a new set Monday, but unfortunately it's supposed to snow all weekend.

I got mine yesterday. They are in perfect condition. Sorry yours aren't the same. Bummer.

One of the wheels that I received from Tirerack was slightly damaged. However, I have never experienced a less painful return process. There were no questions asked other than "would you prefer a discount or an exchange?". The new wheel arrived within two days. I missed the pickup for returning the damaged wheel and Tirerack was very accommodating in arranging an alternative that was convenient for me.

As fast as they ship these things -- and with what I guess is a busy time of the year -- accidents will happen. It sucks in your case with the snow this weekend, but in my case it only made me more impressed with Tirerack.

I was the one with the wheel weights issue. They were mounted and badly balanced at Discount Tire, so was not a Tire Rack problem.

Garage List
Are those spots elevated? In the pics they look more like something on the wheel than they do scrapes. Sux either way but those things happen, the key is how the responsible party responds which I'm sure will be very good with TireRack. If it were BMW they'd say it was your fault for modding your car...lol.

That sucks about the wheel. Luckily Tirerack is great about these things. Too bad whoever is doing the balancing isn't paying tht much attention.

They're scrapes.

They required me to send in photos. Apparently the photos need to be "reviewed" so they won't even process the return until Monday. The first rep I sent the photos to on Friday left for the day without looking at my email and processing the return, so I had to call back in today to another rep who won't do anything until Monday either. Not impressed with this.

Why haven't you had Gill deal with this Zed2.0? He is our contact and might have been able to straighten it out for you a lot quicker.

He was already out for the weekend when I got the wheels Friday. I'll talk to him Monday but this isn't something he should have to deal with on the weekend.

I hear you there. BTW, they might not be there Monday since it is Columbus Day.

We'll be working on the issue for you today. Unfortunately, your call to us on Friday night was hours after the last shipment left the building, thus the carryover into today.

So I got the replacement wheels a week after my first call to TireRack. No damage on them (though their customer rep told me they won't promise perfect wheels because the ASAs aren't "high dollar," and said this was a one time only replacement). I'm still trying to send the damaged ones back to TR. Three calls to them and they haven't sent me repacking materials. They even sent UPS by to pick up the wheels without letting me know, and without sending any repacking. Maybe this is a big fluke, but every interaction I've had with reps other than Gill has been negative.

Makes me excited to get my GT2s on.

*edit*

And I would have come unglued if someone told me this. "...they won't promise perfect wheels because the ASAs aren't "high dollar..." I think I'd be like, FU maybe?

I'm shocked they didn't accuse you of mounting & scraping them. Their "review process" is as useless to me as pinstriping a watermelon.
