Dealer tire/wheel Warranty
hi all, i am new to the forum, just score a new 128i.
I didn't know what's the fair price for the tire/wheel warranty, but after search in the forum. I felt I might be ripped-off. I paid for a 5 year, tire/wheel warranty for my 128i, which the dealer ask for the price for $1,995. (I've got sport package, so it might be applied to sport tire with run-flat). Am I being ripped-off? I think if so, I going to cancel that.... |

Yeah, it's probably not worth it unless there are a lot of pot holes and chances to bend rims (like in the northeast or other snow-prone locations).
If you don't anticipate bent rim, then you are essentially paying for them to replace tires when you get a punctured tire, and how often does that really happen? BMW typically will not repair runflats if you get a nail, but many places will. If you do damage a tire, take the opportunity to buy non-runflats with half of the $2k you would have spent on the warranty. Save the other half to repair/replace damaged tires. Odds are you will come out ahead by not getting the warranty, especially in CA.

My dealer offered it for $799
Ehhh.. Cool thing is they do cover aftermarket rims/tires too - so if you get some crazy expensive rims, it may be worth it.

Thanks you guys for the quick replies.
mattssi, are your plan also for run-flat? or non-run-flat? From my search, it looks like the normal price should be around that number, 7~9 hundred, instead of mine as $1,995. I might better cancel that...., did any one tried to cancel warranty before? will i get into any trouble doing that? or would they let me do that? (with-in 30 days) |
