205/50 R17 tires on all four corners
17 x 7 inch wheels on all four corners (I use Type 142)
I use Nokian Hakkapelliita R tires (RUNFLAT)
another Option is Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 RFT (RUNFLAT)

It depends on what kind of weather you will be driving through. If you do a lot of snow driving 205 or 225 are ok. If you dont drive in the snow, but still drive in cold temps(like me) then you can keep the 225/255 staggard setup like I have.

205/50/17 is a recommend size for the BMW OE 135i wheel. A good winter tire to look into would be the Dunlop 3D's which are offered on TireRack.com

225/40/18 would be the best size to fit the OEM wheels all around.

If you're downsizing, then 205/50/17 on a 7-7.5" works great, and 225/45/17 on 17x8" is fine.

Hi Gill,

Is 17x8 too wide for 205/50/17?

Cheers...
