Rubbing in the rear
Can anyone with personal experience confirm 285/35/19 tires in the rear dropped on springs (H&R to be exact) do not rub?
My wheel specs are 10" +20 if that helps. I'm going to make a purchase soon and just want to be sure I won't be rubbing and regretting.

The rubbing issue will be with his vertical (height) clearance since the 285/35/19 tire is over 1" taller than the 285/30/19 tire. (26.9" vs 25.8") The taller tire sidewall, combined with his H&R lowering springs...makes rubbing a possibility under certain suspension compression scenarios.

I'll post pics later tonight. Changing the rear dia
eter by .6" larger will mess up the DSC? Has anyone tried this setup dropped?

I'm not sure how sensitive DSC is on the M3, but I know in other cars traction control/dsc/or whatever you want to call it can be sensitive.
I made that mistake in my E55. During normal driving there was no problem, but the "control" would kick in much sooner when driving hard. |

It will look like you have alot of room because of the conservative width/offset but when the springs compress the tire will rub up top. |

I just don't want to rub where it's either dangerous or can potentially permanently damage my car. The reason I want 285/35/19 is because I want to get the RE-11's and they only make 285/35/19 and no 275/35/19.
No one has 285/35/19 dropped???

jj, its hard to tell. from experience, a 285 35 19 is wider than 285 30 19. a 285 35 19 is equivalent of a 295 30 19. i was running a 285 30 19 nitto invo with a 10 offset. i even added a 5mm spacers. then again, my bumper was rubbed out already so i am able to run a wider stance. no one really know how sqaure re-11 are. its all trial and error. in my opinon, you might rub. only because your wheels will be muffin top. good luck man.

It's going to rub for sure, unless you have a set of camber plates for the rear to induce more negative camber, finding the right size tires is more important than finding a particular brand/model tire.

You've tried this size yourself and it rubbed?

I can almost guarantee "rubbage" lol (thats my word). Im currently running 285/30/19 on a 10" wheel with 25offset and a 5mm spacer. Absolutely no rubbing. However, I wanted the tire to be more flush so I tried running a 10mm spacer and under certain compression, I had some rubbing. I figured the only way to make it work is to go with a 275 tire.
My point tho, with a tire that tall u will deff have rubbing issues, and it might be more then just under certain circumstances. Good luck. Post the pics. |

No, I don't have that size, because I know it's going to rub by using tire size calculator.
Rom3n, your back wheel's offset is less aggressive than MrHarris's RS-D +20mm, thus yours doesn't rub. |

So I guess rom3n says it works fine. His offset is more aggressive than mine by 5mm. Rom3n, what about with a full car (passengers)?

I'm pretty sure he meant the wheel has an offset of +20, with an effective offset of +15 with the 5 mm spacer.
