What's the red bulb at the bottom of the back-view mirror?

Just got my blue 135i today. Notice this thing looks like a sensor right under the mirror, anyone knows what it is for? The audio system was messed up for a second, could not get the CD out and it keeps on restarting itself, scared me a bit then apparently it fixed itself. The Nav seemed not as goog as my Garmin, but most other things so far so good. It was shipped from Cape Cod only had 7 miles on it. BTW, the Bloomfield BMW (NJ) is very good, got it at a good price, about $200 over invoice, did not play hard ball with them at all, very easy to bargain with and ver nice to deal with. Let me test drove one all by myself. Love the Montego Blue, kind of makes it easier on the eye.

Also, very surprised and happy to find a USB port in the glove box since mine does not come with the iPOD and USB option, just FYI.

It's the clown nose for the optional alarm system.

Thanks for the reply, just checked the manual and it indeed is the indicator lamp for the alarm. But mine does not include the Alarm option so I am a bit confused. Maybe it is just there regardless the Alarm option is installed or not.

It is also the knob used to turn anti-glare on and off.

Unless you have the auto dimming mirror in which case it's just the clown nose. BMWs have had them for a number of years.

That is where you can upload music to the hdd.

You can"t play music off of it though.
