Buy your own rear diffuser?
Has anyone tried this? I love the look of the rear diffuser but don't want to pay $1,800 for it. Anyone know if you can buy it and what price they are?
Is there a way to buy it and install it yourself on a bare bones 128i? I've never dont modifications to a car before so I would kind of be afraid to break the damn thing. |

That's a performance accessory, it is available separately. I'm not sure if that's available as an option now, it wasn't in the past, rather it's an add-on that is purchased after the car.
You can purchase that from some dealers and vendors that advertise on this forum, look in the commercial section, for less than $1800. But it's still quite expensive, $1400 I think. Installation of that part doesn't look to difficult. |

For a 128i you'll need two pieces.
The first is the "performance rear aero". It'll run about ~1000 installed at your dealer or around ~600-800 to install it yourself. It is essentially a 135i rear bumper and the stock 135i diffuser. The second is the CF performance diffuser. The cheapest I've seen this is around ~1400 for just the parts. It's fairly simple to swap the stock diffuser for this CF diffuser once you have the performance/135i bumper. In the commercial section a vendor is in the process of making a non-CF replica of this that will be MUCH less expensive. It will probably be at least a few weeks until they have it ready to go. |
