Do you let other people drive your M3?

I have let my brother drive it. He is very careful with things that belong to others. Most people do not respect other peoples belongings.

Hell yea, I let my friends drive it.... why not? It's just a car/toy. I have insurance and a warranty on it. I don't let them take it on their own, but most people never get the chance to drive a E9x M3. Good thing about owning a manual car is many people won't even ask to drive it.

+1...I let my friends drive it with me. They cant borrow it but they can drive it with me in the car no problem. I let family borrow the car if they wanted to....At the end of the day its just a car.

Thats exactly how I feel. I used to be really protective of my cars but it's just a material object at the end of the day. If any of my friend's ask I just throw them the Key FOB.

Thats why we have insurance, I let my girlfriend learn stick on my car. Shes pretty good, shes stalled less then 5 times in total and she doesnt ride the clutch. I taught her to do it properly and I want her to know just in case. Besides, I think its hot when a chick drives stick!

Wife can drive it anywhere anytime, family/friends just want to ride in it; the launch control, DCT, EDC, etc is too complex for them so no one has ever asked if they can drive. If they did ask, I would definitely be in the passenger seat.

If i'm drunk and can't drive yeah..and i let family drive it. My friends are morons though and almost all of them can't drive a stick...problem solved.

no one has ever asked...its manual so that helps, i guess.
my family can drive it no problem, I will teach my sis this summer on it, she wants to drive it, but her manual is rusty.
none of my friends drive stick and the one that does, is dumber than my left nut. so no to him, even if he asks.

wow im surprised by these responses, im glad to see a lot of u realize its just a car...I also let my gf and friends drive it. I made a mistake a while back with my first new car, i would never let anyone drive it, then I totaled it. I realized material things like cars come and go and not everyone is fortunate enough to afford new cars or M3s in this case.

LOL, I've been teaching my Fiance how to drive a manual transmission on and off for the past year or so. She's actually a lot better than she thinks she is but hates driving the car on the road. lol, I think we're going to try again today.

Most of my friends have cars as fast or faster, so I have no problem w/ letting them drive.

But it's just a car really. Friends and some family members have driven my bike and some of our cars, but not the M. No love there I guess. So I guess they think the M isn't as interesting

So far only the wife...my 16 year old son begs to drive it to school but I love him too much to let him drive...poor kid loves speed as much as I do without the driving experience to back it up soooo, its the Honda Civic for him!

As for friends, if any one of them want to drive I would be all for it. The DCT seems to scare them a bit...

At the end of the day...it is just a car.....right?

When I let a friend hop in the drivers seat and start the car DSC is on, and I keep quiet about that button. Only BMW owners seem to know what DSC stands for

I used to ALWAYS let friends/fam drive all my toys through the years....even my race cars. That was until exactly 5 days after I bought my new e90 M3 and my good friend rear-ended someone, destroying the front of my car

. Took almost 3 months to repair. Haven't been able to let anyone drive it since.

same here, i was less particular until stuff happened to family members cars. plus i think it can lead to destroying friendships unnecessarily.
stuff like this has happened to many relatives and friends, it may sound extreme, but you would be surprised how common it is...my dad lent his car to a close friend for 2 nights or something, totaled it. 3 month old jag cat. then the guy had the nerve to not even offer to pay for it. he was drunk, so no coverage or police report.
(also,
i got a new bike, let my sis drive it, she dropped it. delivered that night. )

i know its just a car, but you would be surprised how easily crap happens.

When I use it have full trader's insurance when I sold cars for a living then numerous people drove my cars, including my personal one but now my policy only has me and the wife so though the brother has driven it on the rare occasions it's too expensive if an accident occurs.

As for the wife driving.....well if I'm to ever get a little bit we all need to make concessions.
