They are very different tunes, and not really competing against eachother.

The JB+ is for someone who wants more power, and doesn't want to mess with the ECU. ITs a quick plug and play install

The JB3 is for the person who wants the most power and most advanced Tune and has no issues going into the ECU compartment. The JB3 controls many more parameters then the JB+ and give you more options/maps, etc.

You would choose the JB+ over the JB3 due to ease of installation. The JB3 is a full piggyback tune that also has 7 different user adjustable maps..more HP can be made with a JB3. The JB+ is newer and has a dial to adjust boost...

Is it same "risk" going on the JB3 as the JB+ when looking to light up "tuning detection codes" for use it in maximum hp mode?

you have the same "risk" with any tune. no one tune is more "risky" than the other...You just have to be aware that if you tune your engine outside of the parameters that it was designed to perform, you run the risk of something going wrong, and it not getting fixed for free...
