Typo... if they used the twin turbo in the X6 for example, the HP ratings would be different and I hope higher for all that effort.

Big time typo. Just thought it would be funny to post here, because whenever anybody brings up anything about a twin turbo going in the M3, people go nuts around here!

Actually there are two tiny turbines hidden in the exhaust manifold. That's why everyone says you shouldn't try to design better manifolds. If you replaced them, you would loose 15 hp and the resulting readings would have a dreaded 3 handle. The reason why BMW keeps this a secret is for tax purposes.

They missed the word torque. Not a big deal, but man that website is just notorious for being error-ridden. I'm sure its farmed out to a third party vendor, but still BMW NA should be proof-reading it. |

When did you see this?
Big difference between a TYPO and someone cutting and pasting something in deliberately! This is what I see....

found this
saying the next m3 will go from V8 to straight six so the new M3 engine will be an update of the next 335 engine? much like the M X5 and X6 will be an update of the TT 4.4 V8? http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-...ontent-block=1 |

True, but I just don't consider going from one of the sweetest I6(S54) to a V8(S65) and then back to an I6TT forward progress or any kind of logical evolution. The I6 to V8 made some sense sonsidering the competition but back to an I6TT?, I don't buy it.

well if rumours that the M version of the X6/X5 are true that it will have 550hp
from the same engine in the X6 XDrive50i (TT 4.4L V8, 407hp) then the engine in the next M3 that is an upgrade of the next 335 engine (326hp) would be around 440hp i am sure it won't be less than what we have now (414hp) so between 414-440hp and torque, going by the same ratio of increase in the 4.4 would be around 375 now would anyone here mind having say 425hp and 375lb/ft?? and probably since its a 6 cyl, better fuel consumption? |

Correct me if I am wrong (and I know everyone here will) - the M3 engine (or any other M engine) had never been an "upgrade" of an existing engine has it?
