Low Battery???

So today I was cleaning the car, engine off windows down and was playing some music using my iphone as an Aux on the sound system.
About 30 min. later the music stopped and I get this battery sign on the screen, low battery sign?? I was like maybe since I have NAV the system draws more power and therefore drains the battery faster? I tried to start the car and It barely started, it really struggled to start, I'm so glad it did...

Has this happened to someone before? could it be a posible premature battery problem going on? it was like 67F outside so weather shouldn't be a fact, the car has barely 3k miles on but its an FEB 08' build...

Happened to me while my I was detailing my interior for about an hour, with music on and ignition actually set to ON so that my subs would have power. Anyways, my car turned on no problem but that same red battery light came on. Went off 10 seconds later and I just let the car run until I finished. Good to go since then!

I had the same issue on my 335 and the same issue on my X5 4.8. For some reason they don't like having any power drawn while stationary. It turned into bigger issues on the 335 (apparently I was not driving the car far enough and the battery would not charge up enough). X5 no issues since. I would get it checked out if I were you to be on the safe side.

Now that you mention it I had the ignition set ON as well to prevent the system from turning off after some time like it does if you only have the power on...maybe that's why it acted that way.. Ive always been detailing my car before for a while with music on and never happened before, but then again it's the first time i set the ignition on... thanks buddy..

Modern car consumes more energy with more buiilt-in electronics. Just the screen alone will drain you battery in no time. This is nothing to do with how the BMW was made. It is the law of Physics, energy in = energy out.
