Back To The Dealer Already

Waited three months to get my M3. Drove it for 3 days(150 miles). Started car Tuesday morning-Warning light came on. Says "Emissions Malfunction-Take to dealership ASAP". SA picked up my car from work today and dropped off a 328 loaner. Three days ago, I might have liked driving a 328. Today, it's the biggest let down ever. Still waiting to hear what's wrong. I think they sold me an Audi in BMW clothing. I want my baby back.

Audi's high end cars are reliable and well serviced. Check an RS4 forum for mechanic problems you will not find much at all. hmmm... can't say the same here.

Mine in the shop due to a hood manufacturer defect. I dropped it of yesterday. I also got a 328 loaner and it feels like I'm driving a civic/corolla. It is a peppy car but has alot of body rolls and is bouncy. I am dissapointed in a 35000 car driving like this and lacking any sort of luxury accoutrements. I thought about getting one, possibly a 335i for my wife, may consider a 5 series instead.

Just picked up my M3 from the dealer. They said that a temperature sensor plug was not competely seated. I guess some hungover German didn't push hard enough when he plugged in this sensor. I wonder what else wasn't done properly. Hopefully, all else is good, cuz I love this car.

BTW-My SA that picked up my car yesterday from my office(exactly 4 mi away) probably took it for a joy ride on the way to the dealership. Service Advisor said no test drive was necessary. It had an additional 5 mi on odometer and an eighth of a tank of gas is gone. Don't think he was following break-in guidelines.

Seems like most of the malfunction problem are from DCT cars, 6MT seems pretty reliable.

He said the SA picked it up at work which is 4 miles away. It had 5 miles on it... so to the OP, you think the SA went on a joyride (with a car he has access to pretty much all the time) for 1 mile and used 1/8 tank of gas??? I wouldn't lose sleep over it. I'm sure all is well.

SA put an additional 5 miles on it. So, he put a total of 9 miles on it and used up an eighth of a tank. I know these cars get bad mpg, but 5 mpg is not "break-in" driving.

I guess you haven't owned many VW/Audi products...... I have. They can be very problematic. The 1.8T, 2.0T and 2.7TT were all very finnicky and had issues.

That being said my 330i has been trouble free for almost 3 years now, and I am sure that my New M3 will probably be the same (knock on Wood).

My 1.8T was a coil pack serial killer, it went through 6 or 7 of them.

just because your SA says the tech didnt need to drive the car doesnt mean the tech didnt need to drive the car. what the SA tells you and what really needs to go on are two dif things. if a car comes in for an issue which involves something like this where a fault occurs...i ALWAYS drive the vehicle a few miles afterwards just to make sure the car is fixed and all is well. now the SA probably hearing the tone of your voice when you ask if the car was driven is obviously going to say no it wasnt...when in reality he/she USUALLY has no clue in the world. on the bright side, glad your cars fixed

Ive owned a few AUDI's over the past few yrs and (while putting on my flame retardant gear) have never had a problem. I beat the ever living f*cking sh*t out of those cars and still....nothing. I just picked up my M3 this last Saturday and have fell in love. Only gripe i have is the lag on DCT...it could honestly kill someone if not in "manual mode". I am going to discuss it with my dealer and will contact the proper channels if it is not easily fixed with a software upgrade...however while in S mode works like a charm. I guess i just cant get lazy and put it in D without expecting a limp peddle followed by a catapault to space.
