MDM = More Agressive exhaust note?

It may be just my imagination but stock exhaust note seems a lot louder/more aggressive sounding in MDM. Anyone notice this also?

MDM simply alters the DSC program. It does not change any other characteristic of the car.

Sport and Sport Plus could possibly achieve this by opening the throttle bodies faster and wider.

No. MDM is traction/stability control. That's it.

+1
perhaps you have the car on sport or sport plus... this might give the feeling that the engine is more aggressive and more powerful even though its not.

Yea you guys are right. Got MDM confused with my M settings. Because when I push my
M button it activates MDM plus all of the other most aggressive settings. My bad...

That's what I was going to say, M-Drive, when you press the M button you probably also have Sport Plus for Power setting and that will make it sound like you're burning gas (or cash, whichever you want) faster.

Burning cash never sounded so good

MDM will not...MDM is a form of traction control basically!

M mode. Also with the pulley because the car is idling a little heavier it all sounds rougher and as if the car is just angrier
But it all equates to more fuel being burned no biggie

It just changes the throttle programming, so you have more go with less pedal travel. The exhaust note would be the same without the power button but with more throttle.

Oh for god's sake

you all have very active imaginations.

MDM = looser traction and stability control.

Power = More sensitive gas pedal

That's it. No different idle. No different exhaust. No secret mad tyte VTEC yo.

I've noticed this when I use the M button (which I have set for sports plus).

I just used normal Power mode for the first month I had my car since it was still pretty cold and sh!tty winter weather here. But now that it's warmed up and got dry I've played around with the Sport and Sport Plus modes.

And WOW there are VERY noticeble difference between Normal to Sport and Sport to Sport Plus . It's probably the thing I'm most impressed with in the car, I mean I figured there was a difference but not that much much of one. The different modes really make it feel like a different car all together (in a good way), specially with Sport Plus. In that mode the car sounds MUCH more aggressive/mean.

I probably will save Sport Plus for the highway or track cause it doesn't like to go slow in that mode, which doesn't work for traffic, ha ha

Oh and at least in Sport mode vs Normal, it doesn't use any more gas, I've tested this pretty extensively. Haven't used Sport Plus for long durations but I have used Normal for a full tank and Sport for a full tank and they both end with 16mpg by the time I had to fill up again (yes I reset it each time I fill up), I drive a pretty balanced mix of city/highway.

Throttle response. How quickly it translates pressing the accelerator to an increase in engine speed.

Yup. I was just using this very topic as an example of a handful of subjects that would benefit from an FAQ sticky.

I thought the power button only had two modes, sport and sport plus? I only see one led on the button... I always assumed led off meant sport and led on meant sport plus. Is there is a third mode, this so called normal mode?
