Production of the M3

Hi guy,
Just a question if any of you know how the production of the M3 is being handled now with this bad economy.
If I was to order myself a 2009 E92 DCT. Would the production of the car be very similar as if the economy was booming. Time wise i mean..

Thanks...

Yes. Possibly faster, since the demand is lower, it is easier to get your order at the front of the production line.

^^ exactly right.

I ordered an M3 last year and was told delivery would be in June 09. They called me last month to tell me that due to many cancellations, the delivery would be brought forward to April 09.

I think your dealer is giving you a load of crap. I ordered my 2009 in November and picked it up in January. My partner ordered one in May of 2008 and picked it up in July. My car was ordered in Colorado and picked up the Performance Center and my partner's was ordered in St. Louis and picked up at the PC.

When you custom order, BMW will take a very similar car already scheduled for production and change it to exactly match your specs. Unfortunately, as you track it online it'll show the original specs until at the finish when you get the actual VIN.

Interesting question. I ordered my M3 DCT on 2/2. I was told that production was 3/13 but it was extremely likely that production would quickly move up due to BMW wanting to produce cars that were pre-sold already. I've been waiting patiently (ok, not so much) for a month now for production to begin.

Today is 3/2 and the car is still not on the production schedule. Looks like they are moving at their normal pace. You'd figure they'd want to produce a car that is already sold rather than lots of others that will just sit on the dock but what do I know! Still waiting (not so) patiently for production to begin!
