Windshield!!!!

So I jump on the freeway on night, I'm doing about 60 mph in the slow lane. There is no one in front of me (why was I going so slow? I have no clue) when out of nowhere I heard something hit my windshield and break it. I'm looking around like crazy to see where it cracked and I see nothing, when I finally get home I checked a little closer and theres a star in the driver's side bottom corner.
About a week later (today) the local glass guy that fixes all the cars at my dealers lot (leather windshields ect...) was fixing a pit in a Jaguar glass and I asked him how much he would charge to fix my window. He says "where's your car lemme take a look" I showed him and before he even gave me a price he started fixing it. The damn thing shatters!!! I'm kidding haha that would suck. He made it dissapear in about 2 minutes he says "what do you think?" I asked him "Will it spread anymore?" he says "will what spread? there's nothing there" so I asked him how much it was and he says "I ususally charge about $50 but for you today in this weather... don't worry about it, I like to help out hard workers" so it pays off to not be a spoiled punk just thought I'd share my good lunch break

Good work to fix it. I had one that I got two weeks after delivery (!) but I could never find the chip - it hit right under the wiper so out of view. Was driving up to the mountains in -2F weather and a crack appeared and ran across the whole windshield. Just got it replaced last week at the dealer - $880! Dealer is the only way to go IMO, thank you Allstate for covering it!

that was nice of him. There are good people out there, we just tend to not notice due to day to day chaos.

Lot's of insurance companies will pay 100% of star or chip repair. It's best to repair it ASAP to avoid a later shatter. The insurance companies pay that guy20-bucks and save themselves 800-buck. You should take care of even the smallest chip.

This is brilliant job done!! I don't have any stars but I have quite a few tinny chips (like 0.2-0.5mm) which I would like to repair. Actually I never knew that glass chips can be repaired until I read your post!

I am in Greece and I will start searching arround the various windshield shops for this asap. Is there a special technique I should be refering to?

+1

I've had my windshields fixed over the years, with $0 cost to me.

I had a rock hit my windshield at 70mph, it was pretty big but only left a small mark. Still annoying nonetheless.
