This saleman from BMW dealer ( kinna long)
It was a day off from my work yesterday. So i went to this local BMW dealer and met this one salesman. He looked like about 50-55 years old and seem to be very nice and calm person. He never spoke loudly and explained about M3 very nicely. He asked me if I wanna test drive it. So we went out for a spin.
Before the test drive he said make sure keep it below 5k rpm cause of break in period and all that. So i had to keep it below 5k which wasn't that much fun. After that test drive I told the guy the car felt like regular 3s or even felt like Lexus. I told him that the Car was too smooth and I barely heard any engine sound. Very very quite ride I told him. And all of sudden he said "Did you just say "lexus"?" I said "ummm yea... something like that". then he said "let me give you a ride for 5 mins" I said " hmm..?" Then he took me to this curvy local road and said "this is M car" then he went crazy. He was going 70 mph on 35 mhp road. he was going at red line all the time(maybe forgot about "break in period") I almost thought the engine was gonna blow. I told him " hey could you slow down little bit?" then he goes " oh no...!! this is what M cars do!!" .... i couldnt get out of the car for next 20 mins and I ran out of dealer after that. While i was leaving from the dealer I looked back and he was waving his hand and had a big smile in his face... Last edited by ygfamily21; 02-17-2009 at 03:45 PM.. |

Actually, that's not atypical from my experience with salespeople when we're in a M car or P car. They want to impress upon you how good the car can be, but to get the last laugh, scare them by driving it harder than they did, get it a bit loose and late brake.

Nah... the reason why I said it felt like lexus was cause he wouldnt let me go over 5k rpm.... I know m3 is one of the best car in the world and thats why I am thinking about getting one myself too

What a f'in toolbag... Revving the shit out the engine on a new car and then they flip out on normal owners, trying to avoid warranty claims. They should have a demo car with miles on it and then let you drive it in normal RPMs (8000) and also show you what it's like.

I'm laughing so hard my jaw hurts.....
I agree with the sentiment that we need more sales person like him, just don't over rev MY M3. He can do it other cars but just not mine. I went on a little road trip today to Portland, Maine for break in. It seems like there's still plenty of fun between the 3K to 5.5K rpm.

That is perfect... don't mess with old dudes who have years of driving experience... by the way I left the parking lot tapping the red line with 1.5 miles on the car... It's the old school way of braking in a motor.
