M3 with M-DCT.. why the same brake pedal size?

Just curious as with manual trans M3, the M-DCT sports the same brake pedal size. why not the enlarge pedal just like the auto trans where no clutch pedal being present?

any underlying reason?

ok.. i take back the potential offensive word. are we cool now?

It was done to confuse you.

Or just to standardize brake pedals between the various M3's to keep cost down and not change what works for no reason.

Not sure which one is correct.

Or I guess they just assumed mostly women would drive them

To really confuse people, add a fake third pedal to DCT and watch people in amazement when you click off perfect shifts and perfect heel & Toe downshifts.

Or drive the real thing and watch people in amazement... j/k

They should have made two separate forums, one for M3s with DCT, and one with 6MT. But then I have a feeling you'd still have guys cross-posting, haha.

Maybe to make left foot braking easier.

Steptonic 3series owners want the luxury of that large brake pedal. M-DCT M3 owners don't care, so they figured there's no need to spend the cash and push the cost up.

probably just to show people that its not just a normal 'auto' gearbox... this way everyone knows the gearbox is something special.

They did it with the SMG, too. I assume it has to be because they want you to remember you aren't driving an AT.

GSP made a nice pedal for the E46 SMG that made it much easier to left foot brake under extreme corner loads (where you tend to use you left foot to brace yourself against the dead pedal).

Only one answer.... money. I bet it's just cheaper to produce and make the same pedal. It's certainly not to say that the gearbox is special... that would seem very odd to make a statement that way.

That was a piece of art--too bad Dr. Stroes got out of the business.

I have one on my E46 (for sale btw if someone wants it), it is fantastic....I wonder if they carried over the same firewall design on the E90 - I doubt it.

I would prefer a big pedal for left foot braking.

Cannot be anything to do with money. Lots of cheaper auto BMW's have a big pedal. It has to be to send the message that this is sort of a manual car. Personally I think it is a mistake, I would prefer an auto style wide pedal.
