Finally, acceptable bass on std system

From the first time I listened to the non-premium audio system, I felt that the bass was lacking. At first I couldn't even tell if the subwoofers under the seat were working (very little vibration). I find that just having bass and treble controls makes it hard to tailor the sound to my liking. To get by, I have had the bass turned up to 9 or 10 and still found it pretty weak. I'm not looking for huge volume, just balanced sound (which to me means a little thump from the bass). I looked into adding aftermarket components, but I wasn't thrilled about the idea of tearing into my new car.
I found that using Audacity to process my MP3's with added bass boost gives the bass sound I was looking for. I added 6 db of boost centered at 120 hz. Now I can run the head unit with the bass set at 5 and life is good! Granted, it's not audiophile quality, but at least it doesn't sound anemic anymore. :wink:

1.2.6 It's an extra step to process up front, but it does give you the ability to equalize the sound where the options are limited with just the bass and treble controls in the std audio 1er.
