Finally, acceptable bass on std system
From the first time I listened to the non-premium audio system, I felt that the bass was lacking. At first I couldn't even tell if the subwoofers under the seat were working (very little vibration). I find that just having bass and treble controls makes it hard to tailor the sound to my liking. To get by, I have had the bass turned up to 9 or 10 and still found it pretty weak. I'm not looking for huge volume, just balanced sound (which to me means a little thump from the bass). I looked into adding aftermarket components, but I wasn't thrilled about the idea of tearing into my new car.
I found that using Audacity to process my MP3's with added bass boost gives the bass sound I was looking for. I added 6 db of boost centered at 120 hz. Now I can run the head unit with the bass set at 5 and life is good! Granted, it's not audiophile quality, but at least it doesn't sound anemic anymore. |
