Virtually positive it will be an axle-back.

It will be just a rear muffler, so axle-back and the pics will be up soon and maybe a sound clip.

They seem to still have the 15% rebate on any purchases too.

Will this be any free'er flowing than a BMW performance exhaust? I'm gonna guess that by using the term free-er flowing, they just eliminate the resonator?
EDIT* wow, 3.5" exhaust tips are HUGE!!!

I have the BMW Performance, and honestly, I don't think the Dinan will be much better. Maybe a little more free flowing? Maybe a little louder? But there is only so much you can get from an axle-back.

BUT WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE? Why even put the item for sale on your website with a price if you're not going to show a photo, or at minimum a sound clip? Lame. Get your ducks in a row when you have a product release and do it right.... it's not like it's a teaser, it's actually for sale and can be added to the shopping basket on their site. It's difficult to take companies serious when they do things like this. It gives the impression they are unprofessional.

But I doubt it you can make and sell one for $150 and be profitable??? I know >$1000 is expensive but $150 is impossible. I am thinking about $700-$800 is more reasonalble.

I'm not going to dispute that Dinan's prices are high, but part of the price includes the engineering and development costs for the product, not to mention wear and tear on the production machinery.

That's how NASA got $600 toilet seats and $200 wrenches. . .

Have Fun,
Rick

you simply cannot compare Dinan to Nasa... point being, there are plenty of legit (OEM approved) companies out there that don't "tax" their products... R&D on exhausts do not require a master's degree... especially if you've already BEEN making them for years on the same make vehicle and selling to the same brand of customers..

Not to pick nits, but "...plenty of legit (OEM approved) companies..." -- no, there are not, for unless you're speaking of AMG (formerly not owned outright by MB), Alpina (Europe only), Dinan (North America, and barely recognized by BMW), RUF, and a handful of others, no aftermarket company is OEM approved, nor is the auto manufacturer in any way going to cover you if the product you slap on caused a failure. Dinan has that, and yes, you will pay extra for it...but peace of mind comes at a price. It's not for all people, but others can, and do, appreciate it.

I too think that it's an expensive exhaust, but that's coming from the Miata aftermarket world...but stainless steel doesn't come cheap (assuming that Dinan's is...all decent Miata exhausts are).

well considering i paid $650 for my HKS TI Carbon catback exhaust on my Evo, and HKS is factory approved for Lexus...

as far as having the "peace of mind" with Dinan, do some research on this forum and read up on what some of the $2000 flashes have caused.. some people may be sold on name alone, which is self evident because this IS a BMW forum... lol ok ok that was low...

First, there is no correlation between the parts you had on your Lexus and BMW's acceptance of mods.

Second, at least provide links of the supposed issues with the Dinan flash. I know we have several members here that frequently track their Dinan Stage 2 cars without issue.
