JB3 1.22 Review
First I'd like to say dealing with Terry was great, outstanding customer service! When I received my first JB3 and had some issues that guy personally dealt with every phone call and worked me through it. After we determined what the issue, I sent it back and got a new one with the 1.22 software.
Now on to the review... All I can say is WOW!!! Seriously the car has been transformed. At first I stuck with MAP 4 and drove around... fairly impressed at first, then the ECU adapted and I became much more impressed. I wanted to try MAP 6, hehehe. I had a good friend of mine in the car and I started to switch maps using the gas pedal, (he had no idea I had put the JB3 in, and hes driven in the car multiple times) and we're off pull onto the main street, and I let 'er rip! and in unison we both say "Oh SH*T" LOL the car pulls like a damn freight train! Unbelievable!!! Great work Terry. Dan

This map has really made the JB3 even better.
Not to hijack the thread but here is what the new map covers for the noobs: Updates: 1) Gas pedal map switching. Allows you switch maps or disable the JB3 from inside the car without running any additional wires or having to carry around a keyfob. Intuitive to use. 2) A host of new maps, including maps with much improved low end reponse. 3) Numerous firmware changes to allow RS232 operation with our upcoming gauge / tuning tool and future software. 4) Improved digital signal filtering for smoother overall operation. 5) Map corrections to handle CELs that have cropped up in some cars during 30-40 degree ambient weather conditions. Here is the new selection of user maps: 0 Stock/Valet -- Stock tune with boost levels of 6-8psi 1 Low boost map -- Boost levels of 11-12psi 2 High altitude map -- Boost levels of 13-14psi but more aggressive high RPM boost taper 3 High boost map -- Default map, suggested for most users -- Boost levels of 13-14psi -- Auto detects and adapts to mods like race gas, intake, exhaust, DP, etc 4 High boost map with lagfix -- Same as map 3 but with improved throttle response below 3500rpm 5 Hot map -- Same as map 3 but with more aggressive low end boost and less high end taper -- Suggested for those looking for a little more power than the high boost map -- May trigger a soft code (CEL) from time to time if your car is not up to the task (plugs, fuel pump, fuel, etc) 6 Hot map with lagfix -- Same as map 5 but with improved throttle response below 3500rpm 7 Race map (customer version) -- 97+ RM/2 octane and supporting mods suggested -- Peak boost of 14-16psi depending on mods and weather. Overall testing is going well, but the addition of item 5 has slowed down the testing process. So we're going to move the official release date to 1/15/2008 to give us more time to fully evaluate and test all the changes. That isn't to say many of you won't have this map in your hands well before then. But better safe than sorry I think. As of right now all JB3s are shipping with version 1.11, which features the improved signal conditioning and some cold weather map corrections, but does not have the gas pedal switching or new lagfix algorithms. |

You can ask Terry for a 1.22b chip, can't hurt to ask. Other than that, wait until Jan. 15 and you can arrange to get an updated PROM.

i just finished installing the JB3 w/ 1.22 also. I haven't had any other version so I have nothing to compare it to, but it definitely gets alot better the more you drive it. It really is great so hats off to Terry for a great product.
That said, I do have my own doubts about running almost twice the boost that it originally was set at. I'll probably run the low boost map most of the time. Jeff |

Just want to reiterate that Terry is great, his product is great and his customer service even better.
I spent the day switching between Stock, Low Boost and High Boost. I LOVE High Boost but honestly its toooooo fast for driving around town, you have to be so careful with the pedal. I'm sticking with Low Boost and using High Boost for when I know i plan to do some spirited driving. Jeff |

^^^ How do you know what map you are by using the gas pedal? Is there some sort of display?

Just installed mine last night and drove around today to teach the ECU. Got the latest 1.22 JB3
All I gotta say, is this is a fabulous product. Perfect installation instructions, no errors/codes and once you let the car become one with the JB, this thing is a freakin rocket! I thought it was quick stock, was I wrong. Freight train is right, best bang for the buck by far. I purchased mine from Andrew@EMS (http://www.exquisitemotorsports.com). Great customer service and a great price. Can't beat that. There is no display for the map switching. Ignition on, motor off hold the pedal down 4 seconds, then it's a WOT click per each map, there are 7 maps. |

I'm on 1.22 but I haven't had any other version to compare it to. Works great, Terry is great, and this is the best bang for your buck mod i've ever gotten.
I've run the Low Boost Map and High Boost Map, both work great. Jeff |
