iDrive question
What does the screen on your iDrive show you when it opens (08 model)? Mine usually shows the root menu (Navigation, Entertainment...) but from time to time it starts with a BMW logo... Should it always start with a BMW logo?

Mine generally starts with the last setting (usually map facing north) but sometimes starts with the logo as if it is booting up, then it switches either to the map or the root menu.

Joey, don't stress about it. Sometimes mine starts with BMW logo and sometimes with other menus (depends where I was before). I assume it's just got to do with timing and sequencing and don't worry about it while I'm driving the thing!

Mine does both as well and sometimes it takes up to ten seconds to even open.
Piggyback Question- Is anyone able to keep their screen shut on engine startup? Even if I uncheck all options the screen still opens. I really don't need it open just driving around town. Brian |

My screen makes me click "accept" after telling me that the screen I am reading should never be read while I am within 100 feet of my car or some other such nonsense.
After that it goes to the last screen up, usually a playlist. I have everything checked "dont open the damn screen" and I've noticed that if I turn the car off and start it back up in a short time span the screen does not pop up. The car takes ~15m to shutdown - as long as the light on your start button is lit the car is "on." So my theory is I have to "accept" every time the computer is rebooted, but if I am inside the shutdown window my screen will stay down like it is supposed to. Really hoping a hack is released that gets rid of 1) the accept screen, 2) dvd playback lockout, and 3) windows not rolling up with key fob. In other words, I want what the Germans get.
