Trading-in 135i for 370Z?
After BMW pulled the whole new idrive swap within 6-7 months of offical production (which I feel alittle cheated about), I've been thinking about trading-in my 135i for the 370Z. Atleast this time, I'd know I wouldn't be getting jerked around with the navigation system as it's a very powerful system right from the start. Don't get me wrong, I love every aspect of the 135i, it's just the way BMW handled things with the new idrive that really bothers me. BMW could have started the new coupes, not hatchbacks, with the new idrive...or waited a couple months until the new idrive was ready for production. Just my 2 cents!

I thought about it for my next car. I still dont like how it looks. It reminds me of a catfish. Nissan says that they're going after the Porsche Cayman S with this one. I believe them this time. Rumor says it will loose 150-200lb while gaining 30hp. Good stuff.
I'll await for my S3000 or whatever its called..lol

Not if its anything like the nav system in my friend's Altima. It won't let you do anything (like enter addresses) with out being completely stopped. Not even your passenger can help out!

I am sure that the new 370Z will be a great performance car but looking at the interior, I don't think I would get one. It looks very cheap with it's sea of black plastic. The pods above the navigation screen take the poor design that Porsche used and made it even worse. They look awful. Maybe I'm just getting old but I would much rather have the more refined and stylish interior from the G37.
The exterior is not that bad but I don't think it really improves on the previous generation. I see a good amount of influence from the GT-R but it doesn't really match the car all that well. Maybe I'll change my mind when I see it in person. After seeing those photos, I have no intention of canceling my order for the 135. If I were to go for a less luxurious and more sporty car, I think I would go with what BForbes has said and wait for the next generation Honda S2000. The current one is several years old and still manages to turn my head whenever I see one. |

Well at least now the people who "want the latest greatest" come out of the cracks the minute a new model comes out, they wanna sell/trade.
I came from a 350z, I am certain the 370z is not worth it unless there was some forced induction.

If the only reason you are trading in is because of BMW's new nav, then i don't know what to say.
As for the 370z, ill reserve judgment till i see it in person. |

not sure I see the logic in the reasoning, but if you really want the Z go for it, not sure said reason makes much sense though. When I had nav, I use to think the Nav made the car, then I got the 1er sans nav...now I see the light, it's just added fluff. not to mention I'm a much better driver/navigator without it. If you opt for the hi-tech you'll inevitably be disappointed as it quickly becomes obsolete. If you're upset with BMW, trading won't show them anything aside from create another happy 1addict. Compare the cars without nav. I'm also not sure I agree the Nissan/Infinity system is so great. I've played with a few Nissan systems and aside from the touch aspect, the routing accuracy, speed, usability, and functionality while IN MOTION is FAR FAR better in BMW systems. TO each his own...but a big NO from me. |

I may. So far my experience with build quality and dealership experience have been not up to expectation from world most successful luxury car company. Neither is Nissan known for its reliability, I admit. I think the 370z will be a more focused car out of the box based from my limited drive time on a 350z. 135i still has a little bit of cratering for the masses mentality compliant suspension for everyday driving. If edmund is right that 370z is smaller than 350z it replaced I would be tempted.

Zonian22,
Not sure I understand. Let me see if I got it right.... You got an 08 NAV car, and thought you were going to get an 09 NAV car? If this is true, did your CA at the dealership not tell you exactly what you were getting? I don't know about everyone else, but my breakdown of the car exp is... 80% car 10% turbo 10% extras... sunroof, nav, comfort, heated seats, leather etc... The turbo may not even be that high, as I didn't try the 128 to do a real compare... If I was cash strapped, I would have got just usb, maybe sport. And that's it. All the extra's are very nice, but that's not why I smile every time I drive this car!!! It's amazing, even after 6 months! EspressoBoy |

Maybe Zonian hasn't realized that Nissan has made constant improvements to the 350Z model as well...
maybe he should just ride public transport - they rarely ever get overhauls. |

I'm waiting for the Nissan 5430Z and the Honda S120000. (why can't they just keep the car name?) Do they really sell more tshirts or keychains or something?

Technically, the S2000 should have been the S2200 for the last few years anyhow. It would be nice if BMW would stick to actual displacement with either the s/si or ti/tii designation for clarity. Wait, maybe that's really no better!
