Car Care Products

A few of you have had your cars for a while. I was wondering what car care products you are using, waxes, polishes etc.

I have used Meguiars, Auto Glym and Mothers in the past however I keep hearing how good Zaino is from our American friends. I was thinking of getting Zaino as it appears to be good for dark coloured cars. Zaino is only available here from Zaino brothers and not available in any stores. I am interested in knowing whether you think Zaino is a rip off and should I stick with something like Meguiars which is available every where.

Hey mate

Zaino is available from a retail store in melbourne, final inspection in brunswick stock the full range. Have a chat to Damo about what you want to achieve and what products would be suitable.

That said, I've had my car layered with Zymol Royale, a steal at $18,000 a tub!

waxit.com.au seems to be pretty competitive in price: http://waxit.com.au/

I orderd all my Zaino products from waxit.com.au.

Works a treat on Black Saphire Metalic.

Good products, just a bit pricey..

I have been trying trying to get Zaino too but the prices in Aust are ridiculous compared to the US (more than double). Have tried contacted Zaino US (Zal) but he is not willing to ship international.

Get Pinnacle Souveran paste wax. It is the best top coat wax i have tried. Their detailing spray is great too. Available from the US. Better than P21S in my opinion.

As for local stuff available at your local Autobarn etc then Autoglym Super Resin polish is decent especially on reds. Meguairs NXT is not bad also but not as good as Mothers Synwax which is easy to use to get above average results. As is Turtle Wax Platinum.

Had a bit of a look, but I can't see any Zaino on waxit.com.au?

Cheers, was looking through the tabs on the left, and for some reason wasn't coming up on search.

Zaino are located in Tullamarine in Melbourne. You can buy directly from them. They seem to be a bit cheaper than Waxit.

I love my car but I don't love it any more than a monthly BP Plus super carwash and maybe a twice a year shampoo.

I NEVER polished any of my previous 4 BMWs.

I do get a bit fussy about the interior though - that gets vacuumed about twice a month.

I get obsessive about my paintwork. I HATE swirls in it.

Which I know is funny coming from someone whos car was disgustingly filthy during last cruise...

I too am a detailing nut - I've tried just about every product on the planet (except Zaino) which I'll get to next...the best products I've used to date are in order of preference Meguires Gold Class, Ferecla G6, 3M paste wax.

I know Meguires is now very common, but their Gold Class wax is truly outstanding, I have many other so called high end and expensive special waxes and polishers, but the Gold Class gives a superior and longer lasting result than any of them and I've used them on both light and dark, metallic and non-metallics ducos.

I'll have to try out the very recommended Zaino products and see how they compare...I live round the corner from Tullamarine, so getting the products won't be too hard

Zaino is the best, but I think I need a machine to go with it. I don't have much elbow power for it. 6 layers of wax or something right?

AutoGlym is also nice and less elbow power required haha.

So Wraith what is your normal process?

Wash the car then just wax it with Meguiras gold class?

Preparation is the key to a good wax.

It's all in the prep.

Care to elaborate smarm? Be interested to hear peoples techniques.

I usually wash the car with meguiars soft wash, meguiars clay bar then wax it with some really hard yellow meguiars wax (can't remember what its called). That is what I consider a full detail. Normally just a wash and chamois for a fortnightly wash.

I use meguiars hot rims for the wheels but I think this may be too acidic so be interested to hear what others use.

I use clay bar a lot. No matter how you polish it there will be lumpy feeling to it until you clay bar THEN polish it.
