Brembo Big Brake Kit Installed
So finally put these on Thursday. Sorry for the bad pictures. One of the guys was taking it and obviously sucked at it.
So the Brembo pads had slots in it that actually fit the OEM brake pad sensor to my surprise. They weren't quite like the slot on the OEM pad, however a quick manipulation of the sensor clip with my fingers and it clipped right in and quite secure. Unfortunately, they do not fit the stock wheels. The outer lip is too fat (where the outer spoke is). If you put a spacer on and move that lip outwards, it might fit though it will be tight. Our 18x10 Forgeline ZX3R clear with plenty of space to spare. I haven't had a chance to test them out yet. The car is still sitting on the lift as I am developing a new product and we're prepare for the SoCal Euro Meet this Sunday. |

Do you think they will really be that much more effective than the current brembo setup that comes with the stock car? I would think some lighter weight two-piece rotors and race pads for the stock setup would get you 95-99% of the braking capability of this BBK. Nate

I was kinda wondering the same thing myself.

The Brembo BBK comes with bigger rotors. Bigger rotors will give you more swept area (mechanical torque) than a smaller rotor. What this means is that with each revolution of the wheel, your brake pads need to travel more distance around the rotor. This alone will definitely make an improvement.
Now at this stage, it's not possible for me to do a valid test as to properly do this, I need to be running the same brake pad compound for both OEM and the BBK's. That's not possible at the moment as there are no real options for brake pads for the OEM calipers. We currently have the Brembo street pads on the car, however we will be switching to some track pads very soon. Our OEM brake pads are toast. There was still a good portion of material left on the pad, however when I took off the OEM caliper, pieces started to come off of the pad. The pad was heavily cracked all over. This is with 2 days of testing, 4 days of competition and almost 4,000 miles of street driving. Yes, our pad options has increased quite a bit. With no options for pads before, we were running the OEM pads way past safe. New pads from the dealership is around $400 for the front set and honestly would have been effective for about 2 days. |

Not fitting under the stock rims may well put these off the list of available options. I just put the Breyton GTS-R wheels on my car so they'd probably fit with those wheels (they are very open for 18"ers) but I was hoping to keep the stock wheels/tires for emergencies etc. Maybe I'll just buy one extra GTS-R front rim and keep for a spare on long trips through barren landscape.
Replacement rotors and aftermarket pad options for the OEM brakes may end up being viable (and cheaper). WIll have to see...

If you put in some PFC 01 or 07 compound on stock brakes you can drive all day on track. Just don t use them on the road. Compromise pads for road and track are always shitty.
I have put some pfc in one pot sliding caliper on my 130i braked at 80meter before tarzan corner. Discs are glowing red but it keeps on braking. Those are the best brake pads in the world. Bmw Wttc have them also on the front. |

Thanks Advevo.... We've been trying to find pads to fit stock 135i calipers, and only one-off pads exist from TurnerMotorsport so far, but Hawk supposedly has some in the works.

I don't know what the differences are but if the the bbk is the same as the stock caliper(piston dia ), then just wait still someone comes up with a 2-piece rotor for the stock setup and get some nice pads and call it a day. It would be really nice if the piston diameter is different in the bbk then the stock caliper. And if that is the case then sign me up.
