Damn it, first problem
Had my sunroof tilted up, tried to close it with the remote. It moved a few cm then just stopped and wouldnt do anything. Tried turning on the car and using the main console and the buttons almost do the opposite of what theyre meant to do... wont open up at all.
will ring up bmw tomorrow and see what they can do about it. anyone else had any probs with their sun roofs??? |

Damn.
I had a very squeaky/noisy sunroof when I got my 120i. A simple grease up by the dealer fixed it.

THIS is why I don't order sunroof on cars where I can (exception being cars like my 911 and C63 where you have to have sunroof in Australia - not an option). The only car that I have specifically asked for a sunroof is the X3, but that is because it is the family car and the panoramic roof is cool.

i can get it to eventually close with the buttons, but with the wrong buttons, which is good as it was drizzling a bit just after it screwed up.

Sorry to hear of your prob jks. I'm sure it is an easy fix. Sounds like they wired up the button wrongly...:iono:
I'm with Wayne re sunroofs. I never use them and they are a potential place where dirt accumulates and rust to start. They probably also contribute a bit to flex. On the other hand if you like the wind in your hair feel, go for it.

I never use air con, as I like fresh air, so for me it's actually been really useful. However, one thing i can't work out is how to get the roof from a tilt position to wide open with 1 press of a button, rather than holding my arm up for like 20 secs pressing the button :iono: |

I've had a sunroof in my current Falcon XR6 since new and wouldn't have it any other way. Yes, there are some maintenance issues occasionally, but I wouldn't part with it one iota. So, that's why I didn't hesitate in adding it as an option (a bloody expensive one, mine you). I'm sure it'll get sorted ASAP.
I must admit that I use it as a moon roof more often than a full sunroof, but that's the way I like it, aha...

Bummer about the problem but I am sure it'll be fixed quickly.
I love sunroofs but I find they take out too much of the head room in the car and I tend to have my hear resting on the roof lining... not much fun when you hit a bump ! The 135 I drove had one and it was fine, the CLC200 had me hunching over. A lot of it depends on the seating position |

Hey guys, well it ended up being quite a simple fix. it was "out of sync"
all you do is hold down the up button (to make it tilt) for 40-60secs and it should go through all the motions recalibrating the sunroof. I actually found a thread on this, but it didnt work when i tried it just before going to the dealer. just glad the car is back to perfect =) regarding the pros/cons of a sun roof, i love being able to have fresh air with it blowing into my face. but in the end i guess it depends on your priorities with the car. |

Excellent news.
I am an air cond man, I never turn it off, so maybe that's why I'm not into sunroofs.....

Thats great news..A nice easy fix..
And I am the opposite..Hence the vert. Never turn the air on unless it is blazing.. Love having the sunroof open or the back tilted up.. Have the air on all day at work, so by the time we leave work I am over the A/C. |

You can also go from fully open to tilt open by pressing the button up when the roof is slid right back. Hope that helps Oh, and sun roof wasn't even a 2nd thought on mine. One of the only boxes I ticked. Love them

Maybe it's the beautiful Perth weather, Dave, that gives us a different view. Did you have yours open on the way to church this morning at 2 degrees C?

Glad to hear it is fixed, issue and resolution noted (just in case it happens to me).
Re having a roof, have you EVER tried selling a BM coupe without a sunroof... good luck. I have had a few BM coupes and learnt the hard way, trust me. |

I never went for a sunroof, apart from pale euro skin I always thought "why not just buy a convertible?"
each to their own though. |

Yes I have, and I sold it for a pretty good price! It depends on the model. Plenty of people will want a 135i without sunroof as it will be a more hardcore sort of car. Certainly most buyers would prefer a M3 without sunroof (hence with CF roof with a M3 like yours!).

Going to try this now. I got a sunroof icon on my dash last night, and it doesn't move much....; only in 1" increments. |
