Its getting close now...

Finally, after much debarkle, my car is on route to Perth. No, not from Germany, from Melbourne. Yah. For some reason, the shipping company cancelled their port of call into Perth and sailed straight to Melbourne. I watched (not literally) as my car sailed straight past me having rounded South Africa and steamed toward WA. A few visits to the dealer and it seems that they are very annoyed at Wallenius as they had a substantial number of cars on that ship (although mine was the only 135i Coupe) and now they have to explain to customers why their cars have been delayed and how they are going to get them back from over East.

Fortunately, while the pre-sold cars were on the docks in Melbourne, they were put through compliance so at least when my car gets here, it's WA rego, clean, tank of fuel, whatever else the dealer does and it's ready for delivery. Was told today that it's officially in "Gate Out" status meaning it's left the Melbourne docks and has been put on a car transporter heading for Perth. Yay

Thankfully, with the delay in LVT, I don't have to financially worry if it doesn't make it before June 30th but knowing it's so close, I don't know how much longer I can emotionally wait!

Gimme gimme gimme!

I secretly hope the Tarifa (which my car is on) bypasses its stop before Melbourne so I can take delivery sooner! Not gonna happen though.

Gee, you've got to wonder why Auto Classic weren't told beforehand, don't you?

Anyway, good one, at least you know it's on the ground and on it's way! Look forward to the reports.

it will be Awesome to have another ONE to hit perth streets, its very boring not seeing many around SteveB hides out in Boddigton I think and all i get to see is the dash not that iam complaining...already done 2300kms......:biggrin:

SimonB, I think i'm the fourth or fifth private owner from those that have specifically ordered a car from factory in their own spec to get theirs in Perth. I think i'm the third 1addicts forum member from Perth (Steve Brown and jcw2006aus) both have theirs 1'ers. Will be looking out for you jcw2006aus, I've not seen a 1 at all on the road yet (coupe or convertible) other than when i've been driving the demo! You are quite right tho, i'm

Mine is even closer. I went pass my dealer in Launceston early this morning (before opening time) on my way home after returning from Sydney, and there it was on the floor, registered, spotless and gleaming. Wish I could have grabbed it there and then, but I have to wait till Monday or Tuesday when I have time to town again.... a 150km drive

I felt the same way. I didn't want to see mine till the day I picked it up. But I was overcome by an irresistable urge to just go for a peek, it was stronger than lust....

Well, today I went over to the dealer, I paid for my car in full and I left...in my 91 holden nova bunky car. Didn't even get to see my baby as she hasn't arrived. What I have done however, it screw those bastards in parliament out of any retrospective Luxury Vehicle Tax they think they are going to enact. So I pay one week of rego, finance costs and insurance, big deal. If it saves me nearly $2K in additional tax, money well spent. Also means that when she does arrive, i can pick her up and leave straight away. I'm told next Wednesday is drive away date. One week, can't wait!
