BMW Driver Training -- Perth
Hi Guys,
Just completed a day of driver training at Barbagello raceway in the M3.... Must say everyone should save up and do this well worth the money, some have probally already done this. learning Oversteer in the M3 is awesome and the laps are also very addictive.....now just need to get the 135 on the track! Will post up some photos and vids if anyone is interested..... Felt like this all day Mark |

Hey jcw2006aus!
I'm doing the Advanced II course on Thursday - really looking forward to it. Hopefully the day will be dry. I did ask if I could get my 130i on the track but the answer was no - boo. |

Well when I did my basic BMW course a few years back, not 3 months passed before I brought myself a racecar to relive the experience over an over again. Highly recommend any track based course, but be warned it could start an expensive itch!

Did the Advanced II at Barbagallo today and I am still trying to come down from the blast of adrenaline that is the M3. What a bloody awesome machine!!
You really get a good run with the car towards the end of the day. In the beginning it grabs you by the throat and gives you a hefty kick in the butt to show you who's the boss but by the end of the day it is just starting to tolerate you - slightly! And just when you think you're hot because you can wind it out to 185kmh down the straight - Geoff Brabham puts you in the passenger seat and shows you that you really are just a beginner! 210kmh down the straight! There may be a 135i on the market in August.... BTW - came 3rd overall in the slalom. |

Kris, if you purchased via EPP you should get a discount too on the BMW courses.

My EPP program gives the basic BMW driving course for $195 - normally $660. From what I remember when I did it a few years back, they would apply the same $$ discount if you did a different course.
That said I highly recommend you do the "free" BMW driving course, which is a really just a cutdown version but gives you a taste. They are the Fascination 3 events. I'm racing at Calder Park this weekend and I've seen BMW setting up there as they will doing the Melb event during the week. Call your dealer ASAP to get an invite if you haven't already got one.

Any comments on what the Advanced I was like? I'm worried that its going to be a basic defensive driving style course. Is it worth it, or should I skip it and go straght to advanced II ... and the M3

Any info on what they teach you in the first/second course?? I've put my name down on the waiting list for first/second courses but both are fully booked out with a very long list... Looks like it will be 09 before I get on one..

I cant tell you much about the Advanced I course only that its in the 325's ONLY!
The Advanced II consisted of..... 1. Breakfest. 2. Laps in the 325's with a partner, Instructor in a car in front.(quiet quick). 3. break. 4. Emergency braking ABS and avoidance. 5. break. 6. Slalom, course timed event (where I won my model M3 :biggrin run with Geoff Brabham! 7. Lunch. 8. Oversteer in the M3 :biggrin::happyanim ::biggrin::biggrin: 9. break. 10. laps in the M3, 185kms down the straight (barbagello short track!) 11. Hot laps with instuctors, NO traction control on Advanced II  Mark |
