least popular options ordered?
From what I have been reading, the 2 options no one seems to be ordering in the US are Active Steering and Park Distance Control (PDC).
Is there anyone who has ordered these options? |

PDC is a no brainer. Active steering isn't worth the money.

Got the PDC. "We" had an incident with the Jetta backing out of the driveway bumping into the step bumper on my old F150 that I left parked too close to the garage. I took the bumper cover off, had it repaired and then I replaced it and it still cost $500. PDC would have paid for itself.

I almost got PDC, but I don't really park in tight spots very often, and this is a much smaller car than I'm used to anyway, so I don't think I'll have any issues without it.
Active steering seems to be pointless on this car, from what I've read. THe other option I didn't take was Sat radio. With the current situation between the two providers, I don't think an integrated system was the best idea. I know there are a lot of other people who share that opinion, so that one may be a little less common as well. Once everything settles down I may have the dealer add it. |

I didn't upgrade the stereo equipment at all other then getting the iPod adapter. I'm not a big audio guy so the HiFi, HD Radio and Sirius were all unnecessary for me.

By “we” I assume you don’t mean “me and somebody else” but “someone other than me who may possibly be reading this post”.

i dont really park anywhere on the street.. when I go to my bro's house I park in a parking lot, at home in the driveway, at work int he deck... only occasionally at an atm i park it on the street or going out to a restaurant where you have to street park, so i didnt think it was worth it. I can judge the distance pretty well. Once you know how close you are for real you can compensate and adjust
But you cant use me as an example.. i got a bare bones because I thought the manual seats would be better than power, had I known about the mirror tilt I would have picked that up. To answer the original Q, if I were to reorder and load it up, I still would not get AS and the cold weather package though I would get heated seats (dont ski, so I dont need that chute) HD radio nor Sat radio.. I dont listen to the radio that often because they dont play anything I want to heat. I would get the USB/IPOD based on what everyone here says. |

I skipped the pdc, ca, and as. AS seems like such a waste....ruining the feel of a sporty car (no debates about the one being a "sports car", please). CA is nice, but not necessary. Kinda wish I had ordered the PDC, as I had it on my '04 x3....made it a breeze to parallel park. But that car had it on the front and back, and I felt like the feature wasn't worth the $$ w/out the front sensors like they get in Europe.....what a jip!!

I got PDC, but I didn't go for active steering or sat radio. I pretty much have everything else but those two things and the steptronic tranny. There is a guy in Norman that's on the forum who order active steering. I am hoping to meet up with him and beg him for a drive to see what it's like.

I don't like either. The PDC has little circles on the back bumper. Its not a BIG crew cab pickup, I can't see getting it. The active steering is a joke.

I drove a 135 with the active steering back to back with a 135 without active steering. It was at a BMW 1 series test drive event and they had a course thru some cones set up. The course was designed to specifically show the advantages of the active steering and I must say it actually worked really well. Before I tried it I had it written off as a useless waste of money but it is pretty good. If you are always parking in tight spaces or do some autocross then it may be good. I don't do much of either so it isn't worth the money for me.

Active steering must be the least popular option. Rear PDC is standard in Australia on the 135i. IMO a very useful device, saves craning your neck when parking or backing into unseen low obstacles. Front PDC less useful.

To me everything but the sport pkg was least popular... I basically got a stripper 135.... had to get the sport pkg though because it was mandatory in my book...
