Comfort access system
I'm planning on putting my order in very soon and wanted to check if any of you have the Comfort Access system?
If so, is it worth it? I assumed it was basically just keyless entry, which isn't something I'm particularly bothered about |

I think the car comes with keyless entry. Confort access turns the key fob into a transponder that allows the car to unlock the doors when you walk up to it and when get in you just have to press the start button. You never have to take the keys out of your pocket.

I personally like this feature. It's very nice to never have to take the keys out of your pocket (or purse) to unlock, drive, lock your car. For me, not having keys dangling on my right knee while I drive is worth every penny.

Not fishing for keys all the time is very liberating. It's one of those features you don't think you really need until you get used to it -- and then it's hard to imagine doing without.
I'm antique enough that I can still remember being dismissive of garage-door openers: You pull up, you open the garage door, what's the big deal? But that seems like the Stone Age now....

Ha ha, you say that, but hardly anyone in the UK has one anyway!
Cheers all for replying. My intended spec was: Titanium Silver High-gloss shadowline Black Boston leather Brushed aluminium Xenons Professional CD player Hi-fi speaker system Cruise control (standard in the US?) May have to have a think about any other bells and whistles I might want. |

I also have ordered comfort access. With the convertible it also opens and closes the roof remotely. A great accessory for the vert.

Eh? I didn't know that! Wow, how does that work? I got it, but was not sure how it affected our tops.

Comfort access is better than sliced bread. I leave the fob in my pocket and drive away. This should be standard. I know some of you like a key...but this is cool!

I thought it was a silly gimmick until my GF bought a car that had it. It's one of the best modern improvements I can think of. Just imagine running up to the car with an arm load of beer in the pooring rain and not having to dig around for the keys. Once you get used to having this, you'll never want another car without it.

Anybody know what would happen in this scenario?...
Lets say you have comfort access and you leave the key in your pocket while starting/driving the car. You and a friend stop at a gas station to get drinks and only you get out with the key and leave your friend in the car which is still running. Will the car automatically stop running since the key is not there or what? :iono: |

Comfort access for me means $7.86 more per month on payment ??? I WAS going to get it, but I have added so many options I needed to trim to keep it below $40k MSRP. Many said to delete the comfort access. I still HOPE I can get it.

What about locking the car?
In the manual, it appears that you have to touch a certain part of the handle in order to lock the doors. For me, this would defeat 50% of the purpose of Comfort Access. I'd rather push the door and let it swing shut, then press the key fob to lock as I'm walking away, rather than stand next to the car to touch the handle after the door has closed. Do you have to touch the door handle to lock, or will it lock automatically once the fob goes "out of range?" |

I like it, but I wouldn't pay for it. $500US ($750CAD) is way too much to pay for this feature, IMO. I think the new Toyota Corolla offers it as a standard feature (not that I'm planning on buying one).

I think it shoud be >$300.
I wonder if you could have it installed later. So its not included on the monthly payment. I wouldn't mind paying cash later on, instead of paying installments on the $500 option. Even if its $6-700 later, thats fine with me. |

You simply touch the door handle to lock or unlock. The point is you have a choice. Use touch or the keyfab depending on what's in your hands. In the winter try reaching into your jacket with gloves on to unlock the car? No thanks.
I like the fact that nothing is hanging out of my dash (aka a key)
