As far as I know, BMW has never had red back lighting in their cars. Isn't it more of an orange color?

Optical orange, Sedona Red, Audi Reddish..... you never know what answers you're gonna get when you post the question....
Thanks everyone for the responses though. I was hoping it would be a red-orange. |

BMW has and always will use the reddish-orange instrument color. It's their signature.

I have always loved BMW gauges ...especially since all the lighting matches!
Does vdo make them? Although cw has nice gauges they are a bit girly and audis lighting is nice but the gauge bezels are lacking except in the s series

It appears as a red / orange hue. I believe the reason is for night vision, IE it doesn't ruin it regardless of it's brightness. White light causes your iris to close / let less light in which in effect temporarily causes a loss of night visual acuity. The military has used this for years.
