2018 M4 Headlights (Fade Protection)

So I looked and searched for any tips on how I should treat my headlamps when washing and detailing my M4. I was wondering if theres any routines\procedures that I should use to help prevent my headlights from protecting them from fading\yellowing over time. I think i read somewhere awhile ago that you should use shampoo on the headlights?? Is this legit?

Anyways any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Just cover them in PPF if you are so concerned.

PPF or ceramic coating before they start yellowing. Light polish and subsequent coating the moment they show any sign of oxidation.

Do not polish headlights. You will be removing layer of protective UV coating and just increase the speed at which they deteriorate and start to yellow.

Regular washes plus a ceramic coating every 3 months is a great way to keep them protected. Next step is to PPF.

Once the headlight starts turning yellow the only solution is to polish as UV degradation has already occurred. No way to turn it around otherwise.

For those who want no fuss, I recommend ceramic sprays, e.g., Gyeon Can Coat (spray it on MF towel and wipe) that is to be topped off with Wet Coat every now and then (spray it on wet paint and rinse off).

Just use PPF. It's good for 10 years. Ceramic coating is like 3-5 years and it doesn't prevent chips. The price is also very similar as well.
