How much is a 135i roller worth?
Hi All, Have kinda an odd ball question. It’s kind of a long story but I’ll keep it short. I’m the original (I literally drove out of the showroom) 2008 135i with just over 67k miles. Jet black, coral red, manual seats, sport package. No idriveIt’s almost entirely stock but has a BMW performance power kit, short shift kit, and exhaust. It also has advan RZs. The only non-BMW parts are an AFE intake and black grills. Right now I’ve got my 135, an e91, and an e46 touring. Because of space constraints (and the cost of maintenance and insurance). I’ve decided to N54 swap my e91 and sell the 135 and the e46. What I’m curious is… because my 135 has always been owned and maintained by me (oil changes way above and beyond, etc) and I gave all the records… I’m considering using my 135i as the donor and selling the shell. But… I have no idea what the shell would be worth. It’s in pretty good shape aside from normal knicks here and there. I was rear ended at a stop light back in 2010 but aside from some minor clear coat peeling on the deck lid, there’s no sign of the wreck. If I strip the drive train and anything else useful (I.e. the brakes) any idea what it would be worth? $3,000? I also thought about putting my e91 drivetrain (it’s a manual) into my 135 but idk if that would be worth it. Or I may just sell my 135 and buy an e90 donor. Haven’t decided yet. Thanks! |

I don't have any data points for you, but I think the ideal scenario would be selling the 135 with JUST the engine (and maybe trans) missing.
Your car is a really nice spec in my opinion. The 135i hardware (rear end, brakes) make it a good candidate for a swap, more-so than a 128i roller that has the lesser rear end and brakes. I could see someone picking that up for a V8 swap project.

I think you’re going to be out quite a bit of money by doing this as opposed to selling the car and buying a used motor. Just do a leak down test on a new motor before you buy it.

Thanks, all! Having thought this through I’m thinking that using my 135 as the donor isn’t the move. While having a donor I know the complete history on is appealing.. I think I’ll end up better off getting another donor. Now to try to figure out what my 135i is worth… lol
