BMW M4 Battery Issues
Hello everyone,
I’m new to the forum. I’m having battery issues with my F82 and i’m not sure what to do or what the problem is. The error code is “ Electrical Power Supply Limited”. A new battery is a couple thousand easily so looking for alternatives. Do I need a new battery? Maybe a bad cable? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

How long has this been happening? Did you just get this car?
First thing I would do is check tightness of the power supply connections both at the battery and under the hood. The check what error codes you currently have. Then check the battery voltage both with the car running and off. Charge the battery and see if the battery can hold voltage overnight. |

They use a Lithium-Ion battery.

OP Are you original owner? Did someone replace the battery at some point? Is it the original battery? Heading down the path that the battery may need registration or is coded incorrectly. Also the negative IBS cable could be at fault or the small connector isn’t connected (black/red wire) |

It's a lithium-ion battery, not an AGM or lead acid. The part number is 61-21-8-047-221

Check voltage of the battery with some battery tester, used lion is up to 1k, I have agm just needed to change negative cable from reg F30, can program it with bimmerlink so the car doesnt overcharge I guess but didnt find it crucial as long as you swap it with same amperage etc

Anti gravity batteries should be on sale for Black Friday. I'm planning to pick one up as a spare since our lithium batteries start to go out after 6+ years.

I know Iam wrong here but I cant help think a 2 thousand dollar battery should at least last close to a decade, I've had standard car batteries last that long. Op you ever get the issue sorted out ??

That said, lithium battery technology (of which there are different "flavors") is continuously improving, including becoming more cost effective…..

I've never had a standard lead acid or AGM exceed 4 years in my old cars and I daily drove them haha. Battery warranties aren't even long anymore. They used to be like 6 years or something. Now they're like 3 years? 4 years from Costco.
