Random Errors.. anyone else?
Alright, in the last month I've had three weird errors.
First on was zooming up the mountains, I got a Fuel Pump Malfunction... Didn't seem to be running rough, but pulled over anyway. Being a guy, I turned off the car and restarted it and the error went away. It's never come back. Second one was the tpms. Checked my pressures, and they were good. Restarted car and the error did not come back. Last night I got a minimum oil level warning just as I got home. Started it up this morning and all is well. Anyone else getting these errors that disappear? Should I be nervous? I was going to mention it at my next appointment, but it's gonna be a month or so before it's time to take it in. |

Document the happenings for the service department so they know what to look for in the ECU (I am assuming the ECU records these errors).
If the engine related errors occur again, I'd get her in asap. Nervous? I would be a little bit.

No false faults thrown like that, but I did have the digital cruise speed indicator flake out on me recently. It refused to indicate "85 mph". When I clicked up to 85mph, it would stay at 84mph. But the speed would indeed increase to 85mph as revealed by the digital velocity function of the BC (as well as the speedo, including the cruise needle on the speedo). 86 worked fine. I clicked up and down between 84 and 86 a few times and finally just gave up. A few minutes later I tried again and it was working fine.

the one thing that i absolutely do not like about these cars is the fact that there are so many sensors on everything. i have not had any significant problems with my car, but i have had plenty of erroneous sensors, including a right front TPMS sensor malfunction, which is in the shop getting fixed along with DCT reprogram as we speak.
broken sensors to date: 1. left rear tail light out sensor 2. right rear tail light out sensor 3. left front brake wear sensor (said i had 290,000 mile on my brakes ) 4. right front TPMS 5. and lastly, they replaced master sensor reader (whatever you call it) electronic gizmos are fun, but not if they keep the car in the shop |

I've documented when the errors have happened so the tech's know what to do.
The oil one has me nervous though. It popped up again today and did not go away. The sensor showed the level way down at the bottom, so I bought a quart and put it in (needed windshield washer fluid while I was at it). The sensor now shows it at the top... I wish I had a dipstick. Looked around my spot at the office and in the garage and there aren't any signs of a oil leak (under the hood was clean too)... oil shouldn't just disappear I'd think. |
