How rare is this spec?

Hey everyone so last month I picked up a 2011 E90 M3 ZCP in Interlagos Blue/ Black Novillo Leather and was wondering out of the total produced what number would be mine.

I know there were a total of 342 e90s produced in IB and out of that 186 were LCI.

Thanks in advance!

I understand what you are asking and allow me to digress a little about evaluating the rarity of a car.

With all the option configurations now days anyone can make any basic 3 series a 1 of 1. Yours may be 1 of 1 also.

There were something like 60,000 units of the e90 and e92 made. So nothing is rare except the models made with a different engine configuration like the 4,4 liter GTS. Some paint codes like 1 of 40 frozen silver command a premium because they can be desirable. But a standard color isn't going to command a premium.

Yours may be 1 of 1. But isn't valued with this in mind by anyone. I know that's not what you are asking, but these threads tend to go in that direction.

Anyway nice spec congrats.

Rarity and value are two different questions. I believe he was asking the former. But it also looks like he already knows the answer. And they're not always related or I guess proportional. My truck is a 6MT with manual windows and virtually no options. I wanted it this way and love it. Because of the transmission and lack of options its a very rare truck I would go as far to say it's a unicorn but value wise it's worth about the same as a white "work truck".

My M3 is an E93 6MT as well. Alpine white and black interior. Those colors are pretty common but if you look at production numbers, convertible manual M3's where produced far less in numbers than DCTs and then take all that into consideration and all E93 manual cars would be considered rare to a point.

Value is up to the buyer as they are the ones putting the cash up and rarity is up to production numbers that being said, looks like you have a relatively rare car. For whatever that's worth.

Yeah, it is not an individual car, just a low-production number color. The Comp is worth more than the color. Will not be worth more or less than any E90 Comp. If it were a slicktop then you would be getting some value out of rarity. Otherwise, not.

Total of 1220 LCI Comp E90 cars, and as you said 186 are IB, but no telling how many Comps are IB. Sickfinga is no longer active and so getting specifics on a car is not possible.

For starters 9.5k E90 was produced of 65k E9xM in total. FWIW 1.5k E90 with ZCP option, where of 1.2k for the US market. Not sure about the ZCP + IP combination but guessing less than the 186 (all ZCP = LCI).

So depending how you measure - and want to dif between sedan/coupe/vert model - you may end up with a pretty rare car.

@Longboarder answered this best.
I saw this post earlier and held back my smart ass "it's 1 of 1 with that vin" comment. It's as rare as you want to dissect it to be.

I probably could of worded my question alittle better but you answered question perfectly. So basically my spec is rare but not so rare to the point where it starts impacting the actual value of the car compared to other M3s.

The reason I am really asking is because I wanted to get the future classics sticker made and in the caption area I wanted to put "1 OF X"but was not sure which production number would be in place for the X (186, 342, 1220, etc….)

Thank you for the help!

Not sure wha you consider rare. This is my 2nd 2011 interlagos blus e90 m3. This time Competiton package. I agree with most. There are so many configs. You could easily call most 1:1. Only a few things really improve value. Comp. pack, slick top, single hump. Maybe cloth seats and manual.

Agreed - Stripper or individual paint are the money cars on E90 platform. Find a stripper with individual paint and it's an open check book situation.

OP probably better with a "V8 M3" sticker or "only V8 M3"

I have a Monte Carlo Blue E90 - no IDrive, no moonroof, no folding seats. Has a cloth interior. Only options are DCT and iPod.

It's the perfect track spec…but it's also so good looking that I don't want to mess it up by putting it on the track.

My car is rare. Only 2 others with the same color. I know one is a DCT comp pack. I think it has more options but no sunroof.

Beautiful color choice!

Ask them if they can help. They had the data to run through and give me a guesstimate.

Like others said it was difficult to know exactly. But they applied the take rate (percentage) on the color Silverstone for all E90's to the number of E90 ZCP's made and it came out to be like 1 of 130.

If you go and further dissect the transmission and Nav and interior well you could apply the same math and I'm sure it drops to 1 of 2 to 1 of 50.
