2012 E90 M3 CRT lightweight for sale on BAT

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...t-lightweight/

Many of you may have already seen this if you frequent BAT but I didn't see it posted here yet. I'll be honest I didn't even know these existed. Really cool details. Apparently there are only a couple of these in the US and only 67 worldwide. There's a cool frozen blue M3 on BAT right now too.

It's been posted here on M3post pretty much since the second it hit BaT -
https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1852927

Most of us know about the CRT, this particular car has been posted for sale here in the states several times, typically in the $250-$300K range, but it never sold.

They sold a very low mileage here for around $85k a few years ago, after being advertised for a long time. If I only knew then what I know now....

Thx for the info. So if one sold for $85k a few years ago, do you know if any others traded hands and at what price since then? I get the rarity factor and some inflation since the $85k trade but 3x? No way. At $85k I'd buy it and park it out in my driveway let birds shit on it and take it to the beach.

Come to think of ot I believe one was sold at around $150k at some point after. Whether same or not but probably.

There is a E92 GTS currently advertised here - and since years now - for €180k.

This isn't really that interesting of a car as a show car. It's a sedan, it wants to be driven more than 2500 a year, what a pain in the ass.

And now EAG just jumped in to increase the bid from $63k to $100k. One hour left.

Seems like the seller believes he has a 3,500 pound gold bar so my guess it doesnt hit the reserve. But the real bidding will start soon if there is any.

That was lackluster. Really anticipated more engagement.

I truly wonder if the multiple unwarranted comments on it being hooned on YouTube reeled it back at all. The seller said that wasn't this car, but many others said it was.

Maybe it really is a low to mid $100's car and the seller was really trying hard to fake a higher market price by listing it a ridiculous prices elsewhere. Can't blame him for trying but he was hoping for a stupid sucker and there wasn't any today.

Bingo - it's a $110k car all day but not $300k. BAT is the closest real market value appraisal available imo.

Note in that auction EAG posted they have a 3rd CRT on the ground. I'm sure they bought theirs in Europe for $100k+ or so and shipped it over instead of trying to buy one of the 2 already here which have been clearly over priced.

Seems like this puts a cap on regular low mileage non GTS/CRT regular 4.0 versions as well. So don't expect a 5,000 mile 2013 frozen MCB bone stock time machine to command anything near $100k like that stupid Buick dealer was trying to pull. It's likely msrp at best right now for those examples and maybe a little over msrp for the Lime Rock since those seemed to have the most hype.

I think there are much more interesting show and display garage queen cars than this if your budget is 300k and you're not going to put any miles on it.

Those would be better though because they're not pain in the ass regulated show and display only.

In the stock market they have a saying "pigs get slaughter". Meaning the ones who hold a position by hope alone always end up losing in the end.

I would think this car would have a ceiling and $116 seems to be pretty close.

It is a special car for sure and a therefore commands a special buyer. Someone with a lot of disposable income who is a BMW nerd would be my guess. If I was considering buying a car over $100,000 I'm pretty sure I would find something a little more exotic over a 4 door car.

A super clean newer model V8 R-8 or even slide into a v10? Hate to say it buy a nicely specked c10. But m not a BMW nerd or a fan of the brand other then the o e I drive.

I dont know if I agree with this - the CRT car is for all intents and purposes useless as it cannot really be driven & requires significant process/paperwork to reapply for a show & display. That alone alienates a significant pool or buyers. A "regular" M3 has much more universal appeal and can and will continue to command premiums for low mileage nice spec'd examples. Just my $0.02 though

Why can't it be driven? At a sub $100k pricepoint I'd consider buying it as a replacement to my e92 and driving the snot out of it and even modding the engine a bit. I've done it before to more expensive albeit less rare cars.
