7 series seats same as 5 series seats?

Recently checked out a G30 LCI with the multi contour front seats. Didn’t like them as much as those in the X5/X7, which I found bigger and cushier. The massage function was also quite underwhelming if I’m being honest - maybe that made the seats harder too. Are the seats in the 7 the same as those 5? Do anyone of you have qualms with the current seats?

As far as I was aware the 5 & 7 (X versions as well) all had the same comfort seats.

Anytime you need this info...just go to one of the online part database sites (like realoem.com or bimmercat.com) and click on the 11 digit BMW part nbr for that particular item. It will list all of the other BMW models (if any) that use the same part nbr.

For example...I clicked on the base seat for a G11 750i and this is what was listed: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...&q=52107354590

Cool, thanks! Looks like the base seats are the same. Multicontour likely the same as well. Was hoping I would find the magical seats of the F02 in these new models but perhaps that was a golden generation for interiors. Car seats seem to be getting firmer as a general trend over time.

Multicontour also the same, if you go up the link tree for seats and come back down you'll see a part for a "comfort seat cushion" or something. Same for G30 and G11/12

Hard as Seats in a car of this level and cost and purpose, is simply not right.
It appears BMW will finally address them with the next model.

Hope so. 2016/the G11 was BMW’s first CLAR vehicle and they’ve released a new generation of CLAR cars (mainly SUVs) since then so hopefully the next 7 series will represent the sum of all lessons learned on that platform up to this point. Still can’t believe G11 customers had to wait until the 2020 LCI to experience a vehicle with appropriate levels of road noise for instance.

Is there any literature around this somewhere? I'm debating between a 530e and a 740e and I keep reading that the 530e is really quiet, meanwhile I've also read that the 7 LCI is becoming more quiet. Wondering if perhaps the 530 is a more insulated experience, since it's a newer design.

Attached a description from the LCI press release. Main complaint with the pre LCI 7 was with road noise, especially in the rear. Of course, the 7 is never going to be loud but from flagship standards the road noise seemed to stand out.

Bear in mind that the LCI electrified model is the 745e. Also, if you're in the US, the quietest g12 models will be the 750i and m760i since those get now thicker acoustic glass (vs pre LCI) for the front, side, and rear windows. This will help with wind noise at highway speeds, road noise, and ambient noise. In other countries, I believe there is an acoustic glass package for other trims.

My single biggest complaint with my 2019 750 is the atrocious levels of road noise, especially when it's wet outside. Driving the car home from the dealership the first time I actually thought the drivers door wasn't closed all the way.

Add to that endless creaks and rattles from the dash area around the vents and hvac controls, the headliner, and rear drivers-side door. It was enough to drive me insane.

It just seems to me that since this was their first attempt at the CLAR architecture, there were hella quality control issues they didn't have time to sort out, hence the reason why the LCI is so much quieter.

Overall this car spoiled my relationship with BMW so badly that I am probably jumping ship to Porsche later this year. Somewhere along the line BMWNA forgot what "customer service" means.

That’s unfortunate to hear. I recall the 2016 MY press release indicating that BMW had used new welding/adhesive methods that would improve sound insulation, which would save weight by not requiring additional sound deadening (they got that experiment wrong). I also recall someone in the g05 forum saying that the 21MY X5 felt more solid than the 19MY, referencing the door close sound as well as the general feel of the interior.

It seems like BMW used the first gen of the 7 as a bit of a CLAR experiment. It’s kind of strange to have to add sound deadening to a flagship later on but that was probably the result of a lot of complaints. The LCI 7 is also said to be less floaty than the pre LCI version, a common complaint. Overall it seems like the LCI is what the 7 was supposed to be.

So, can the wheel arch shielding and B pillar sound deadening be retrofitted to a pre LCI, as not aware of any other changes that would prevent it, and then next question part numbers and potential cost?
