TC super restrictive and invasive under normal driving

Hey guys! I tried searching for help before posting but I’m not seeing anything that solves my problem.

To sum up what is happening is that under normal driving conditions when I drive on the highway and there is either a banked curve or on changing overpasses I’ve lately noticed my Traction Control light coming on midway through the curve and cutting power. To say that I’m driving normal is an understatement. I commute on these highways and sometimes I’m behind a civic or old S10 truck when this happens.

I have several mods
Ohlin RT’s with swift springs
Turner monoball bushings for control arm
Turner sway bar links
Sport alignment by local shop
GTS diff, TC and MDM
20” wheels w Michelin P4S with less than 3k miles

Any recommendations on where to start looking would be appreciated

Louie

What size tires do you have? I have found even minor changes in tires sizes cause greater DSC intervention. I ran 255/35/19 and 285/35/19 for a while. It definitely caused traction control to intervene even going around a curve at slow/completely normal speeds and low G non aggressive driving conditions.

I’m running 295/25/20 and 265/30/20 in the front. I did come across a couple posts stating the same thing

I’m just worried that even though I’m not feeling any slipping that maybe something isn’t right and it is actually saving me

Tire sizes. I had the same issue with 19's and I know exactly what your talking about. Long sweepers at 80mph my traction control is going nuts and cutting power meanwhile the minivan in front of me is hitting it no problem. For me I ended up with 265/35-19 and 285/35-19. Now I can even run without DSC on and the car feels 1000x better, stable and in my control.

Interesting! Do you think if I switch my rears to 285/30/20 it may fix it?

265/30/20 and 285/30/20 will be back to stock 20" sizes so it should fix the problem completely. When I finally switched my fronts to 265/35/19 to pair with my rear 285/35/19 tires, all the traction control issues went away during normal driving. Obviously, it still lights up like a christmas tree when you peel out.

I'm going through the same thing. It's not your tires. has your edc thrown up a warning? it's the sensors the control the traction control. hook it up to a scanner and you'll see error codes most likely. it's a cheap part. I'm gong through this currently and will update you when it's fixed.

Your tire sizes certainly are not helping here. Since your rear diameters are smaller relative to the front compared to what the DSC expects, the DSC believes they are spinning faster than needed and hence cuts back on power. I have the same issue when running square track or winter tires. Some people say the DSC eventually adapts, but I do not believe it entirely does.
