Interesting rear mod

Anyone seen this type of mod? (Blacked out lower left and right)

I ran across it in a used car listing and I’ve never seen it before. I’m intrigued and I’m wondering how it is done...

Looks like a wrap (or plastidip) around the taillights. Interesting.

It's a bit too much overall though, IMO. Would have been better to wrap the lower side 'splitter' pieces in black, if at all. And not tint the taillights...

This is the best pic I have. The car has been covered and in storage for year. Someday I will get better pics.

Why would you put that beautiful thing in the storage?

I live In Mississippi and the registration fees are based on the vehicle value, annually. My first registration was $1450, I was furious. My second year was $1300. I refuse to do it again. I'm looking for a relocation, preferably Texas.

Between registration and insurance, I'm saving $200 a month.

Maybe not 2k but still losing money. If you can't afford the reg why not sell the car not pay for it then?

It's not that I can't afford it. It's the principle of paying a local government $1300 to drive my car. I'll be leaving here soon and will pay a reasonable price to register where I relocate. Free market applies to governments as well.

The roads are shit here anyway.

$2k/mo or not (I assumed the car was new), you are still losing money not driving it. The car after a year is worth less and you paid for it but aren't enjoying it. You are also driving something else instead of it, are you not?

I have a Cheap DD, the M is my fun car. Let's be honest these cars are only an investment in happiness, not finance. It makes me happy just having it. I will eventually enjoy it more.
