static noise in glove box area 2008 135i

when i place my key fob in ignition slot there's a popping static noise that comes from the fuse box behind the glove box. the hazard light button flickers and the brake lights flicker and often stay on after removing the key. this also leads to difficult starting probably because of battery drain

There was a recall last year, to replace a blower motor connector back there. Was yours done? if not it still might qualify. The symptoms are similar to what you are experiencing.
