Love my x5m

Just wanted to say that I love my x5m vs my old 2014 cayenne turbo s. Yes, it’s heavier, slightly less car feeling, but the engine, transmission, customizable settings have me hooked. That’s all!

For me these SAV's drive exactly like a car and that's what has me hooked... and now that I've been running KW's it's even crazier! Not bad for a vehicle I had absolutely no intention on purchasing lol.

Perhaps I'll drive her this weekend. She just sleeps in the garage these days.

I recognized that name from MBworld & the AMG PL. So you finally made the switch to M? Welcome aboard! Let's see some pics

Thank you, glad to be here. I've made the jump to an X5M, I still however have my E63 AMG. and still active in MBWorld, not so much in AMG PL. I pop in there now and again.
I will upload some pics from my desktop, as I'm currently on the laptop which has no pictures saved on it.

Noice! That has to be the most popular color combo for the M. And with some CF bits thrown in? Bonus! And no drilled front bumper What are your future upgrades, if any?

The only thing that I've done thus far, is the CF Center Console, Shift Knob and Steering Wheel Trim Ring. I've also replaced the Door Lock Pins with CF ones.
I had the front wheels refinished and re-cleared, and I going to do the rears as well. I've had the brake fluid, engine coolant and power steering fluids changed. And I have the F/R differentials and the transmission and transfer case remaining. I honestly don't have any plans for any mods now or in the near future. I've done enough to my E63. I was going to add an alcantara covered steering wheel, but found the carbon fiber trim piece from BMW M catalog, and it was considerably cheaper, and achieve the look I was looking for in the end.

I know that I simply tune under $1000, can net me over 600 HP. But I think that it is fast enough, when you put your foot into it. Besides I'm not the primary driver of this vehicle, my girlfriend is. So she doesn't need that extra HP anyway, when she starts back to work. The E63 is my daily driver anyway, but I do enjoy driving it when I can.

I've considered getting a tune, that would push me over 600 HP, but what would my girlfriend do with it, as it's would be her daily driver. Both the X5M and my E63 are very similar, as they both have really nice leather (Napa vs Merino), Alcantara headliners, Carbon Fiber Interior Trim, manual rear sunshades, both over 500 HP. I'm very please with this vehicle. And to be totally honest, I love AMG's but Mercedes doesn't have any SUV that i would consider buying besides the GL/GLS63 but it's too big like the X7, and then there's the G63, but it's cost too much for what it is. Besides the X5M gives me the performance and a lower price point, than the others. And I've always like BMW SAV anyway, and I've owned BMW is the past 323ci, 525i, Mini Cooper S, X5 35i to name a few.

Yup, anyone that has anything bad to say about this car can shove it. I love mine as well.

Rear Wheels refinished

Like the title says, I has my rear wheels refinished yesterday. At a shop in Fairfax, VA called A Plus Wheel Refinishers. The charge $150 per wheel. Their process is to remove the wheel, separate the tire from the wheel, place the wheel on a lathe and machine it, for that perfect machine look. Then clean the wheel before painting and clear coating it, before it goes into an over to bake. then they let it cool, before remounting a balancing your perfectly restored wheel. I recommend doing this every 4-5 years, as the roads debris and brake dust will slowly eat away at your clear coats finish. I had my front wheel refinished earlier this year, as they receive the most dust from these OE pads.
I can't wait for these pads and rotors to wear out, as I have brand new rotors and ceramic pads sitting in the corner waiting to be installed. I also purchased new center caps and the M Motorsport sticker directly from BMW two weeks ago in anticipation. Well, my rear wheels look amazing, I hope that these photos captured the high gloss finish. Below are some before and after photos, were you can see corrosion developing around the center caps, where the corrosion got under the clear coat.

That's a really nice option to refinish a wheel set. I'll be moving back to the rust belt soon and I'll need to look into that type of service.

Since your moving to the rust belt, I would recommend that you get your wheels refinished every 3-4 years. Due to all the road salt they use during winter will be brutal, and your wheels. And they will develop corrosion, get chipped, road and curb rash. But I wouldn't pay more than $200 per wheels, as prices in your area will vary.

I like X5 35D 2017 more than a Cayenne 2015 CD I had in past. N57+ZF8 is far superior than TDI+AISIN. The Cayenne's interior and its technology feels outdated compared to X5 too.
