Remus OR Active Autowerks mid pipe?

Deciding between the two to go with the stock exhaust setup on a non competition m4

Which one sounds better?

Any active mid pipe (EL or Single Y) IMO sounds better than any other mid pipes available.

Is the sound difference with the equal length AA that much better? It's about $400 more over the regular AA mid pipe

Haha I wish it was that easy. Haven't found any good videos out there comparing the two on a stock exhaust setup.

Out of the options you presented, resonated AA equal length midpipe every single time. It's not even close.

Which other options should I consider?

It all depends on what you are looking for and what your budget is.

If I had to choose a stock length system, then AA single midpipe and be done with it. Anything more sounds like louder garbage. I see no point in spending more than the cost of the AA mid if you're completely content with the stock length tone. To me, even the high end systems like Akrapovic, Eisenmann, Remus, MPE, they all sound like crap, and are not cheap for the tone you are getting.

For me, equal length exhaust changed the game. At this moment, there are only 2 equal length systems on the street on customers' cars. The AA EL mid, and the Top Gear Motorworks full catback system, which I helped develop. You can find videos of TGM system here:

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1709896

At the end of the day, it comes down to what you want and what you're willing to pay. There are valid reasons for choosing any system, but for me, it's an equal length option or an AA mid.

Thank you very much for the thorough explanation. Being budget driven first and foremost I'm just looking for something a bit louder and a bit more aggressive/race like sounding vs the stock exhaust. Would love to get an entire exhaust system but to me it's not worth the 4-5k. Would you say there's a big difference between stock and AA equal length mid pipe installed? Is there welding involved or do you simply cut the stock muffler and use clamps to attach the mid pipe

No welding, cut & clamp. The AA mid fixes the tone and makes it higher pitched, moreso like an N54. Personally, from what I've heard so far, the unresonated is a little too dirty for my tastes, so I'd get resonated if it was my money.

I get it that EL mid-pipes and exhaust are relatively new on the F8x platform and choices are limited. What I don't get is the insane M tax. For example browsing through TGM's website there's the F8x EL exhaust for $3,800. It's new and shiny and they can charge whatever the market bears. However I noticed they sell a cat back exhaust for the F10 M5 with CF tips for $2,600. Again, I get that R&D isn't free and they offer something few manufacturer offers. I'm just bummed there's insane M tax on our platform. And it's not just TGM. Exhausts are a fairly expensive mod for the F8x.

Remus is the most aggressive setup. Straight two pipes, should also make the most power of all.

AA has a good marketing and is working close with the vendors that's why it's so well known here in the forum.

If you looking for more power you should have less restrictions as possible, not 2-1-2 solution or this new weird mamba midpipe...lol

You can't really go wrong with either Remus or AA.

So does anyone know if Remus and AA mid pipes and any other brands like VRFS have fitment issues due to the middle brace?
