Should i buy this X5M E70
Hello everyone, im 18 years old now and i live in norway, and i dont know what to do about this car purchase, would love to hear your opinions on it. pros and cons. things that i should know and tips etc. I love cars, ive grown up with M Cars, AMGs, and recently a Ferrari GTC4Lusso so i wont buy a Prius or a honda ;P
i have the opportunity to buy my dads BMW X5M E70 2010 because hes looking into purchasing a new X5M F85. it is fitted with a full akrapovic exhaust, is not chipped or modded in any other way than the exhaust. it is 125k KM or about 77k miles. the cons that i can think of now is that insurance probably will be expensive since im 18, and if some parts on the car gets broken it will probably be expensive. Thanks for any advice and help. |

Typically, I suggest starting with a cheap, light, low powered vehicle so mistakes you make will be at lower speeds and typically with less grip before crashing. Such vehicles are also generally cheaper to maintain and offer more opportunities to do work yourself instead of taking it to a garage/shop.
BMWs with V8 engines are not known for their reliability (At least that's my assessment). Maintaining one of these beasts isn't for the faint of heart or for those with limited financial means. Having said that, I strongly recommend doing what makes you happy... preferably after having completed a LOT of research on the pros and cons.

Since it is your dad's vehicle I'm guessing you would have the knowledge if it was serviced properly and what issues it's had over those 77k miles.
If everything is in good order and your dad gives you a good deal I don't see why not. If I had the chance to have an X5 M at 18 I would've done it. That being said, it I had an X5 M at 18 I probably would have done stupid things and had many, many tickets.

If the maintenance, and care, of the vehicle has been good then you should buy it from your father.
As for future maintenance, it doesn’t sound like money is a problem.

Concerned about buying the vehicle from Dad, why? If you have doubts about the maintenance then, what makes you think you can at age 18? ,
