Liquid Moly diff fluid

I have searched and have not found a clear answer. What I am asking is for a diff fluid change how does the Liqui Moly fair compared to OEM? Also for OEM fluid we are supposed to use the saf-xj without the FM correct? Thank you for your help.

my independent BMW mechanic sells Liquid Moly and uses all of their products on customer cars BUT he does NOT recommend using anything but the BMW brand diff oil or you may get increased noise. I even asked about a DCT drain and fill and he said the Liquid Moly stuff is great for that (and I would have guessed the DCT is far more "Sensitive" to fluid changes than the diff)

All hearsay though...

I was looking for redline fluid for the diff and asked Bimmerworld what they recommended for a street with occasional track and they said to stick with the OEM fluid.

My dealer replaced my diff fluid at 40K miles with p/n 83222365988 which is Genuine BMW Motorsport MSP/A Fluid. Is that correct part number?

Is the 83222357992 a better fluid than the 83222365988?

Should I drain out the 83222365988 in my diff and put the updated 83222357992 into it?

Not sure. I would just change the fluid next time you do an oil change or something. Diff fluid is pretty simple to change.

If your dealer replaced the fluid then you have the right fluid. OEM part numbers change as BMW changes oil vendors, no worries about that.

How many miles are you up to now?
Any reason you want diff oil changed again (noise)?

Im at 65k kms now which is 41K miles.

The reason I sought to change it was perhaps the 83222357992 is a superior fluid than the 83222365988. The dealer put in 83222365988 into my diff for the service at 40K miles.

I actually can feel a positive difference in terms of diff noise and whine. Before at very low speeds in 2nd gear, it would make a diff whining noise before the diff fluid change and now the noise is noticeably quieter

Its 1L but if you dont have something that can suck up all the fluid in the bottle and push all of it out to the diff, might be better to get more. Your call...

Did the diff with Liqui Moly and you would not know the difference between the two by sound or feel while driving. It did take precisely 1L. I was getting to the end and just when I started getting air bubbles coming up the tube, it was full.

I literally just swapped my DCT/Engine Oil/Diff all to Liqui Moly. First of all super easy to work on the car, except DCT fluid that you need ISTA and requires a little more time and effort. But car sounds perfect, no new noises, no additional chatter and car feels smooth as butter. My car hit 50K and needed it. Car feels very smooth shifting now, and driving aggressively. Will track shortly and update, but I don’t see any issues with this fluid. And on FCP it’s lifetime so I’ll be swapping more frequently lol.

Just swapped with Liquid Moly as well. I don't notice any extra noises or anything. Easy job and took one liter bottle.

Yes, 75W 140 fluid. The liquid moly version is working great so far and will go with it again
