Broke my rear brake wear sensor. How to suppress the red warning lights?
Just did another brake pads swap today, but this time unfortunately I broke the rear brake sensor... by pulling it too hard.
No doubt lights were on, and interestingly the red "BRAKE" indicator was also shown in the instrument panel, although I didn't pull the hand brake. Any efficient way to remove those red warnings, besides to install a new rear brake wear sensor? I tried to use the button on the instrument panel to reset it but it didn't work out (did my search on the forum but it seemed most people zip-tied it for frequent pads swap jobs.) Thanks! |

Think you can just short the 2 wires together to complete the circuit again and trick the car.

The only way to remove the iDrive warning is to close the circuit by either replacing the sensor or by twisting the two wire together.
On my previous M4, I made “plugs” by cutting the wire of a damaged sensor close to the connector, stripping the wires, twisting them together and isolating with electrical tape. This way I had no hanging wire to zip tie.
