..and so...the wait begins.

Hey guys,

Went over to my BMW dealership the other day, put down my deposit for an 09' allocation!!! Opted to take delivery sometime next apr or may, given winter is sometimes kinda harsh up here in NY, be best to just wait for the spring for my new M3:

specs: space grey, fox red, cold weather, m-tech package, 19" wheels, ipod adapter, sunroof.

the next 8 months are gonna be tough!

What do you guys think of DCT?....i've driven SMG on the e46 M3, is it similar? Im still debating to get DCT or just keep it manual

Thanks!

Mike

You should go back to your dealer and drive both the 6MT and the MDCT. Both Vehicles are impressive in different ways. The MDCT is more like a true F1 paddle shift vehicle. The 6MT is the old school of transmissions. By the way i bought the 6MT because i am old school. This really comes down to personal likes, as both are good options. You do get the best of both worlds with the MDCT trans with no clutch, drives as automatic, and manually controllable shifting. Think about it and drive both vehicles and choose the one that suits your driving environment. Hopefully the wait isn't to long.

Yes, you gotta try it. DCT is different frim SMG. You'll lose the manual feel since the upshift is smoother. In an SMG, the clutch disengages as u shift, giving you a sudden stop in accleration. You will get the jerk like in an normal manual. The DCT shifts with very little lsot of accleration; therefore there's not as much "feel". But given that it's an M3, you'll have fun in both!
