Steering wheel trim / Battery disconnect?

Hello Guys,

I would like to replace my steering wheel trim on my F15 with an OEM carbon fibre one.

My question is, do I need to disconnect the battery of the car?
Or can i just disconnect the airbag plug without disconnecting the battery.

I am afraid that if I disconnect the battery that i will lose my
settings, or that i will have errors.

Or is possible to put the airbag through the trim hole without disconnecting the airbag plug?

I like that steering wheel trim piece, where did you get it from?

Yes, I highly recommend that you disconnect the battery when doing this mod. You shouldn’t lose any settings or cause errors by disconnecting the battery.

Please post a pic of the mod once completed, I'd like to see it on the wheel.

Good luck.

@dieter09 , it is better to disconnect the battery.
Unless you are a very good bomb diffuser.

Violator , you don't have it yet?

The one I have is using original plastic cover with AutoTecknic CF trim.

OEM is the M Performance, it would be Alcantara cover with CF trim.

You should but don't have too. Nothing will happen to the bag if you don't. It's just two fakra connectors. I've done it several times with no issue. But again. Always a good idea.
